warning lights, help plz

hey guys, im a lil worried..... i only just realised today, when i put my key in, and turn it to the "on" position, just b4 the turning on the car, all the warning lights, light up. in 3 seconds or so, the airbag and abs light turn off, but the OIL, ENGINE CHECK and BATTERY lights stay on!

once i start the car, all the lights turn off. if i had somethin wrong with the engine, wil the lights stay on even after i have started the engine? is whats happening normal?

you are fine. I have the same thing before I start the car.

that's normal. it's good that they come on so you know that they actually work and will light up if they need to.

so if i actualy do have a problem with the car, i.e oil, engine etc, the lights will come while im driving?

do our engines have a failsafe system, if we're out of oil for example? i.e engine shutting off etc?

No. The light will come on. The only failsafe sytem is: Limp mode. The car will not let you rev over a certain RPM if there is something wrong and the CEL should come on and stay on in this situation.
