2. remove the hood pins. drill a hole in the c/f hood using a unibit. take your time when drilling.

3. aerocatch provides a template so youll know how to drill the shape of the locks. tape it down make sure the hole from the hood pins are in the center of the cross hairs marked on the template.

4. drill the inside of the template. use a dremel tool to smooth it out around the edges.

5. you will need to drill a hole on the bottom of the hood big enough for the nuts to attach on the bottom of the locks. use a dremel to smooth/clean it up.

6. install the aerocatch hood lock. use a drill bit to drill the 6 small holes that are around the lock. then screw in the small screws.

^ use 7mm socket on the nuts to tighten

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm225/jordanlyles2000/CFHOODFTW016.jpg

7. reinstall the hood pins. adjust them to size. we used a rubber mallet to adjust the hood pins to move them side to side/ up and down to line them up with the hood locks.

*do not hit the radiator hose on the driver side. itll be right by the hood pin. chris(celica_2nr) found out the hard way.*

*Patience is the key to installing these hood pins. this will take awhile to install.

Very nice and very brave.

**DIY.

The only thing I can say is that I would've angled the latch to flow with the overall lines of the car/hood. (Unless that isn't possible.)

Looks like there's still a gap?

I love those latches. when i get my cf hood i'll definitely be doing this. It would drive me insane having it uneven like that tho but thats just me :shrugs:

Oh and good write up by the way :D

installing these hood pins on both cars was very time consuming. i did my car he did his. its kinda weird how his came up uneven. considering the hood pins were positioned the same. guess we messed up on aligning his templates.

here is my contribution.
i positioned my catches to flow with the body lines of the car.
i would recomend taping the entire area of the hood thats going to be cut and marking it with tape. gives you a better idea of its position. i also used some shims to get the pins to sit just right on the radiator support. ill get better pics during the day.
i love these dam things.

Massive thread revival but a word of warning to anybody reading this, you have installed those bonnet catches incorrectly.

They are supposed to mount from the bottom side and be flush with the surface.

There are several different aerocatch models.
