Hey Guys, are alot of people doing a 00-01 ECU swap to their newer (02) celicas. Has anyone done this and had success with eliminating the pesky low rev limit.? I read the earlier posts on swapping the ECUs and it helped a bunch. What are people paying for ECUs (00-01) to swap into the 02 GTSs.?
Any help is appreciated.

So far I only know of one person that has actually done this, but yes he was successful. You should be able to get the ECM and sensor you ceen at a junkyard for 200 or 300 bucks.

Contact David Draper at West Covina Toyota to get you the knock sensor. I'm still waiting for mine to come. Once I have it I'll be trying to see if this works.

Can't find a part number on the connector just the complete harness which is expensive. I reccomend a junkyard excursion.
As for instructions on how to do it theres an older thread in this section called "Knock Sensor" that has wiring diagrams, instructions, etc. Then theres another thread (ECU part number) that has part number info for the swap.

is there ANY company that can and will use brute force (figuratively speaking) technique to crack the ECU and start reprogramming things (rev limiter)!?!??!
I HATE 7800RPM LIMITER  :(

No, because its 100% solid state non-programmable. It would be like trying to "crack the code" on your TV's circuit board at home. Its NOT like a home PC where you can just plug in and mess with it. I mean look at Weapon R - after MONTHS of work all they came up with was a piggy back that seems to duplicate the function of an S AFR The only way you are going to see a TRUE aftermarket ECM is if someoen steps up to the plate and builds a full replacement that works with all the factory sensors and duplicates the hundreds of thousands of complicated things that the ECM does. Then to add any kind of value of it they would have to make it tunable by the enduser. Risk vs reward = not worth it.
