hey stan..
welcome to the forums..
where bouts in australia are u from?
alot of ppl r lookin for the cold air intakes..and i think a few on this site have ordered them from the US..
i have asked around afew places in sydney, but they dont seem to carry it...so my advice is if u want one..to get it shipped to australia from the united states etc...

popularity of our cars? i dont believe our cars are given much respect..many ppl dont know how much power our car holds..all they know is the VTEC engines...i reckon our cars will run quite well against type-r's both new and old..in the end it will come down to the driver..as for FTO's...i dont really like them...i havent come across one..but if i do, i would like to rip it so hard..ahahha

Thanz for da help dude.

i'm at where u r, sydney...yeahhh all they know is vtec, i've read many articals on our car and our engine is suppose to be mre advance then the typeR's..at least for the older ones, not sure bout da new ones becos its i-VTEC which is a more advance engine....anyway da new ones r not really type R's anyway its a type S in japan..

yeahh i've ask around a few places too bout da intakes all i can find is those ones for integras and civics..nothin' on ours...guess i'll have to order one from us.

anyway thx for da reply man

Dude,

Don't believe the hype about the i-VTEC system in the new Type R. While it is superior to VTEC, it is still not as good (ie. advanced) as VVTL-i.

i-VTEC still only has variable valve timing on one side, while the VVTL-i has variable timing on both exhaust and intake sides.

If Toyota made a 2 litre VVTL-i engine for the Celica, it would kick some serious new Type R butt :D

Either way, welcome to the board.

Hey guys,
I have been a member here for a while but haven't been back for a while as my computer stuffed itself. Anyway I am from Sydney as well I have a Raven Mica 2000 model with 18inch Lenso SS and lowered about 3 inches. I have had the car for about 4 months. Anyway glad to know there are other people that share the passion for this car in Sydney

Maybe consider a intake from Apex'i, Trust or Blitz as I know they have bolt on kits designed for our cars. Considering your form Sydney maybe try BD4's, Chiptorque or Advan in silverwater.

Hey disler,

about getting a injet cai from the yanks, apperently xtrav said something about few of ppl in this board got one from state, u can ask them..

i was thinking about getting one too since they'r speacly dev. for our car and have proven gain. but i also look at the cost its around $270US for one plus $50US for the post..its a good $700+ for a intake...maybe a custom make one won't even cost that much???

anyway how u thining about getting one? mail order?
can u let me know about da price for your quote dude?

About da cruis i'm down with it but i just start shift work so i off now and then, i got 5 days off from this sat til wed...

I dont see much other choice :/ I mean there is always the custom made effort, but you just cant beat stuff that tried, tested and proven.

I think i'll fork out the extra bit of $$$, at least then i know what im paying for.

I'm guessing your exhaust was custom, how much did you end up paying? Everywhere i take it to get sussed for custom take one look at the 180 degree bend and go 'ooh.. thats going to cost'.

Best quote ive gotten is like $990.. just for that one mandrel bend, and the rest crush bent.

apparently there is supposed to be a 2liter vvtli celica comming out in 2004. Its supposed to have the same power or slightly more than a honda s2000. I read this in a wheels magazine a while back. And its going to be rear wheel drive if i remember right.

$990. thats a bit much for a custom exhaust. I got mine for $ 500, and I have to go on the weekend to get another muffler fitted to make it legal. All up its gonna cost about $ 700.00. This price includes all mandrel bends, 2.5inch stainless piping, and 2.5inch straight thru Magnaflow Muffler. If it is positioned properly, you might be able to get away without doing the 180 degree bend, and then allow for smoother flow.
