when i pull the cable from my batt to the trunk for my amp, where is the best place to go through the firewall? i will be pulling 8AWG cable which is pretty heavey duty....think roughly the diameter of a dime.

There's a rubber grommet behind the battery. You'll see it once you take off the battery. It's where all the bunch of wires from the engine go through. But i'd suggest maybe a 4AWG, for that just in case you decide to upgrade

8awg is a piece of cake. i need to check for the spot enchie2 said. i saw someone else using that one too. that would be the best one. i used one to the left of the battery. its what i found online. its like, above the gas pedal.

You might also want to try drilling into the firewall right above the foot rest for you left foot. it seemed like a good spot for my install. Just thought that i would give you an alternative spot maybe to help you out. With whatever you do just make sure that its weathersealed so theres no chance that youll end up with wet carpet.
Oh, and another thing, Make sure your RCAs and your power wire are no where close to each other, Maybe have your RCAs on your pass. side and your power wire running on the drivers. If you keep them close to each other you will catch a lot of engine noise.

I wouldn't drill any holes in the firewall. The grommet behind the battery has plenty of room. I have a 4awg power cable running through it for my system. Just takes a little finesse to work it through. It makes it alot easier of you coat the cable with vaseline so it slides through easier.

depending on the application. if you're fuses add up to say 50 amps or so, then use 4 gauge. if you use the 8, already probably have the 8, keep it as short as possible, that will cut down on resistance. you can even go from the grommet down into the center console and straight back, rather then down the side. this could save about 5 feet of wire and cut down voltage loss by oh say .1v.

i ran 4gauge in through my fender, cuz i had my fenders off.. there's a huge unused grommet in there (except for the hood release)

yeah... click this... it's right behind the wheel... there's a small red wire and a black thing for the hood release shown in the pic... it drops right into the kickpanel
