hello all,

i got a "real" blitz body kit for 400 which i think was a good deal, unpainted.. its blue.. fiberglass

my question is very simple

i live in the nj area

what kinda expense am i looking at for the installation/painting/possibly having them do the undercar neons... possibly install new fog lights?

2) how exacctly does a body kit go.. does it go over ur existing bumper.. or do they the front/rear bumpers off and put the new ones on... the sideskirts.. do they drill?

thanks

Hey Man,
I live in south jersey, You are looking anywhere from 500 - 1200 for prep paint and fitment. Go to a descent body shop. As far as the blitz kit goes I don't know if it is a valance or awhole bumper --- if it is a whole front bumper you are gonna have to remove your existing bumper and fit the blitz on there. I have a Kaminari and it was a front and rear bumper. As far as the sides go, it depends on what type of work the body shop does - I know they have pretty heavy dutygule and double sided tape --- but I put 4 small screws on each side (2 front and rear) just for peace of mind. As for underglows, I cant accurately answer that ? . Hope I was of some help. Peace.

I always thought they molded sideskirts...

Not all sides look good molded, but Blitz ones would I think. It looks decent as well when they aren't painted as well.

Yes --- you can mold the side skirts --- you are looking at more moneythough --- it looks better and there are no real noticeable lines ---- it looks as if the sides are actually part of the body styling and not just add on pieces. The best thing to do is take a day and cruise around find a couple of body shops that look halfway descent. IF YOU CAN --- take the entire kit with you --- (if you are not going to do any of the fitment and sanding work yourself). Tell the shop exactly what you want done (ie. paint fitment , sanding and smoothing, removal of fisheye (if any), MOLDING of the side skirts, HOW LONG WILL THEY HAVE IT) --- IF the shop is good and they know what they are doing, they should be able to give you a price estimate (within $100). If the price is not right ask for a card --- tell them you will be in touch and move on to the next body shop and do the same. If all the prices are too high it MAY be because of the time involved in doing the sideskirt molding (just keep it in mind). You should be in good shape after a day of looking ---- your best bet is definetly to take the entire kit in and let them see what they have to work with. They will not be able to give you an exact estimate if the kit is not pre fitted on the car (that's why I said within $100 on an estimate) --- this is because they won't be able to see how much grinding and sanding they will have to do to get the bumper lines as close to stock as possible. Hope that helps. Peace
