Hi all

Right now I on final phase of break in for my engine.
So need advice.

Just logged some fresh data with datalogit
I am wondering why the basic knock values are so different compared to advanced knock
To be more detailed: ALL values for basic knock are 0. But max advanced value in this log is 24 (33k data pints)

Also it is very strange that on commander max knock value sometimes jumps up to 77. At idle it is ~9 (afr is ~14. with O2 feedback on)
I drive the car under the same conditions. rev limit right now is set to 4k
During driving afr do not exceed 12. I know that maybe I am too afraid of running lean

Some more info on my car
2000 GTS
MWR stroker with 12,5 compression pistons
Injen SRI
WR race header
Skunk2 catback
RPS flywheel
Power FC

Thanks in advance for all input

Just look at Basic Knock. Basic Knock is what actually sets off the warning light. If you plotted both, you would see that for some reason Advanced Knock doesn't reach as high of a value. Not really sure why. You want to keep the knock below 42. Make sure that the 77 knock didn't occur on a shift. hard shifts can trigger very high knock values, but it's just transmission noise being picked up by the sensor.

Thanks for input.
Just to make clear. So I do not need to pay attention to advanced knock?
The value on the commander was not 0, it showed ~9, also that times when I got CEL triggered, the max value on the commander exceeded the set threshold.
I am little confused.
:shrugs:

No.

The commander only shows Basic Knock. There will always be some value for knock. The number is just a representation of voltage and there is always some voltage on the sensor. And the threshold value doesn't prevent knock from going higher, it just sets the threshold where the warning light comes on. Set the threshold at 42 and if you see it flash any time other than shifting gears or right at redline, you've got a problem.

Hmm. Strange. In such case why in the datalogit log for the basic knock ALL logged pints are equal with 0 . I saw on commander that the max value is 6.

Sorry if I am not getting something or my questions may be silly.
