I think the sports M is rated at like 190 hp and has different body parts and headlights and such. There is a thread in apperearence>JDM section :) I just want some ss-II badges heh

Sports M and the JDM ss2. Based on what I know, suspension in the sports m is super strut, vs ss2's macpherson struts. Handling of the sports m is supposed to be better and track tuned compared with ss2. So, sports M and SS2 can't use the same coilovers. According to a friend, Tein super street for the sports M is also unique and made for the super strut suspension. The thing about super strut coilover like the Tein super street is that it is more expensive than regular ss2 coilover.

Sports M has reinforced chasis, which ss2 doesn't have. Engine specs about the same, afaik.

Sports M comes with c64 gearbox, which has slightly better ratios than the ss2. Sports M only comes in manual. SS2 comes in both 6 speed manual and 4 speed auto. Sports M gearbox has LSD, but ss2 doesn't.

Sports M also comes with TRD ecu, extractor and muffler. This also ups the hp of the Sports M over the ss2, but the horsepower difference is not exceptional.

Sports M has no sound deadening material. SS2 has. Not sure about other differences, but ss2 can easily make up for all the sports m goodies, except for reinforced chasis. Superstrut can be transplanted to a ss2 chasis also.

Sports M also has a lip kit and differant hood scoop. Headlights were only an option and are very rare. The weight is less then the ss2 and the power is more.

Sports M never had a sc, according to the factory specs. Friends of mine who drives the sports M never needed to drop a SC and its still fast.

Toyota also released a batch of superstrut ss2. But, these are jdm cars. They are different from sports m and ss2. Superstrut is quite rare too. Sports M and superstrut are older cars like 2002 and are pre-facelift. The regular ss2 received a facelift in 2003, not sure about the years before end of its production.

here is the main differences:

enigne: engine is modified, using lighter pistons, re-profiled camshafts, lighter valves and a lighter flywheel, pushing the 1800cc all alloy engine power to 200ps

tranny: it has the c60 gearbox not c64 same as the gts and t sport celicas, final drive is 4.5, has the trd quick shift set up and has a trd helical lsd, the light weight fly wheel as said above and it also came with the trd clutch plate/cover and a standard disc majour downfall..

body/shell: as said b4 TRD strengthen the the roof pillars and the suspension pick up points, but doing this adds weight - so they remove the soundproofing to compensate

suspension: TRD sportivo shocks, springs, roll bars and bushes good set up

interior: Interior is retrimmed with blue alcantra seats and door panels, A sports SRS steering wheel, Quickshift gearler and TRD instruments are installed, some of them came with red interior as an option as well

exterior: came with a unique lip kit and trd emblems and a bigger hood scoop

now ya may hear that they are 200bhp not true 200ps so thats 197bhp also thats on 101octane fuel i have had my trd m sport dynod 3 time 190bhp, 191bhp, 190bhp all in three different dynos and thats on irish 95 octane do 7bhp for an 8yr old car and crap fuel isnt bad at any standards

here is some picks of my car also it says in my sig that i have power fc in my car dont have it on now as more mods is beong mocked up on the car so took it off as standard ecu makes it a dail driver easier than the power fc
