View Full Version : What Gauges Would I use for Nitrous?
Ok I used the search but i didnt find what I needed. So what kind of gauges would I want to use with a nitrous system? Ill tell you I very ignorant and need help plaese educate me.
Im getting two to fit in a guage pod. Which two Gauges would be the best and the most fuctional. A Boost gauge, EGT, Air/fuel pressure, oil pressure or temp guage. Thanks

get a nitrous pressure gauge and egt or a/f so you know if your car leans out.

what good does an egt gauge do? i just ordered a/f and fuel pressure (greddy), and n2o pressure gauges (nx).

Why are you wasting your money on an A/F gauge. If it leans out and by the time you notice it if it happens then the damage is already done. Pluse the A/F gauge looks Gay as hell too.

LOL, a/f is a good gauge to have, and as for looking gay as hell well, opinions are like @ssholes everyones got one.

Ignorance is a fallicy in life...first of all u can back off the gas if u know ur running lean before hand..

a couple things... youll want a nitrous pressure guage but the gauge is going to go on the bottle unless you really know how to run lines or your having it professionally installed becuase putting a nitrous pressure gauge inside the cabin of the car not on the bottle is a PITA..
you should get either an air/fuel gauge or EGT gauge to make sure the car is staying in the safe zone, and maybe fuel pressure but thats another one thats it bitch to install
I went with autometer's air/fuel guage (fairly accurate if hooked up to right O2 line), nitrous pressure guage, and fuel pressure guage.
As larry stated...the fuel pressure and nitrous pressure are a pain in the ass to mount inside the car. I dont have a pic of my fuel pressure guage but I molded that into where the cig lighter used to be...at the same time I cut out the ashtray, molded a sweet design, made a black plexiglass plate there instead to hold my 3 nitrous switches along with 3 super bright blue LED's. Then end result looks amazing.. :)
If you do mount guages inside your car...get creative man! :)

gotta question then How are you gonna know if you are running lean before the gauge does???
which gauges are the best and most accurate? with the exception of the nitrous gauge i wanted to get blitz cause they look so neeto, but i guess when you're dealing with performance looks ain't everything. let a female know!

the a/f gauge is there to tell you when you are starting to run lean or running lean. thats when you shut it down or get off boost or no2. and hopefully you can save your engine or at least be able to cause the least amount of damage. if you were to make a full pass within the danger zone you will cause more damage than you would if you shut it down when it started. if im running lean i want to know now not when i have holes in my pistons.

i believe greddy makes the best a/f gauge because of its design and uses its own sensor instead of your stock one. as far as other gauges there all pretty good, well autometer is anyway. but you do want to go with liquid filled gauges for better accuracy. there are some crappy gauges out there just remember you get what you pay for.

good guages are Fuel pressure and Bottle pressure...AF would be good too, but I dont know how well it would work for nitrous..I would think, on the bottle, you would always want it on the rich side for safness
I dont see why the Fuel and Nitrous presure would be so hard...
you hook up your sender and just run your wires to the guages...
You should not be using analog guages inside the car....Imagine...your driving down the road on a hot day and you bottle guage reads 2000+ psi and you dont realize it...if its a manual guage, it may blow off at the guage and send parts of the guage into your face....OWEEE
lol thats kinda funny sounding, but the same thing happed with my buddies manual fuel guage...aside from the fact, you could always smell gas inside the car after he installed it.

thanx glitch. one more, can you explain what are liquid filled gauges?
Actually the only proper way to install a Fuel Pressure guage in cab is to use a Fuel Pressure Isolator. No actual fuel goes into the car. :)
As for the nitrous guage...if I was dumb enough to sit in the car and watch my guage read past 1500psi without doing anything about it (purge line, remove bottle etc...) Then I think I deserve the guage blowing up in my face...! Realistically though...I dont think the guage would do that...as the blow off valve on the bottle itself would blow if the pressure got out of control.

just got my greddy gauges today from titan motorsports. they are nice. and looks like its going to be easy to install. Im going to order the egt to be safe and get my a/f more accurate. ill just tap the fuel line where i tee in for the fuel solanoid. and the egt and a/f i will have a muffler shop port my midpipe. im ready now only if nx will get off there butts and get my 15 lb bottle.

liquid filled is a line with autometer where the face of the gauge has liquid in it for vibration purposes and over all smoother needle movements.

Thats what I was saying...sender/isolator..same thing..
not a bad time for that 35shot
Ahh, sorry man...didnt catch on the with "sender" bit. :)
I am hoping to improve my times as is....that was only my 4th run down the strip ever on the bottle, once I learn how to launch properly on the bottle...I am hoping to break that down by alteast another .2-.3. :)
Yet I am getting more than the 35shot...puuls too hard and feels to good to be only a 35shot! Dyno was around 212hp at the wheels on it....my best baseline run ever was around 169hp. As you can see I am getting close to 45hp out of the deal with the bottle at 1000PSI.
