well this is my story........as i went to my regular dealer today to check out what the hell is the big ticking sound in my engine......i had to wait fuucking 6hr for them to tell me that they are not going to take it underwarranty......cuz of my CAI.......and then i explain to them it might not be the CAI that is causing it...and ask for a diagnostic.....and they were like no....and that happend due to the fact that....i was racing the car and abusing it......that's when i reallyy flip'd on the c.s.m........cuz 9 out of time times i drive my car i baby it.......so after getting messy w/ them......i went straight to another dealer around my way.....as i spoke to one of the desk ppl....i told them my whole situation and she ask me to bring my car in even though i had a CAI.....she got one of the mechanics to check it out......this is when the whole servise depar. stop working to come check what's wrong w/ my car...the they gave me a free diagnostic and told me that all 4 cylinders were missfiring:( ......and then i spoke to the same lady again and she told me to come in first thing on monday morning and they will do a complete diagnostic and see if they can cover it under warrenty.....all this depends on if the first dealership did not enter my car into the system as having a "performance" part on it.....which i think most likly they did cuz of my performance at the dealership.....
well my question to all the mechanically sound ppl in here is
#1 can my CAI cause all 4 of my cylinders to missfire
#2 i know what a missfire in the cylinder is but is it a "major" job to be done
#3 do u think it might be done under warranty

Not without a CEL - the only misfire likely with CAI would be from a lean condition and that would throw a code.

All depends on what is causing the misfire. To be if a GTS came in with misfire on all 4 and I was working on it my first instinct would be to to do a compression & leakdown check and see if your exhaust valves are bent from an over-rev. Especially when you have a bunch of valves tapping which is a sign of excessive clearance - or bent valves.

It is a definite possibility. There are any number of things that can cause misfire, most of them are covered under warranty at least as far as the diagnostic is concerned.

heres what happened to me which is simular to your situation...
i had a 4 cylinder misfire(codes 301-304 i think, and 300 for multi cylinder misfire)... i changed the spark plugs and 3 of them went away. cylinder one was not only misfiring, but it wasn't holding any compression either. it took me a while to get everything checked out, and it turns out it was from a misshift. it bent the valves and burned a hole in one of them in cylinder one(the reason for the misfire/lack of compression).... the dealer wouldn't cover it but we did manage to get them to split the bill 50/50 with us because we are repeat customers...
i'd check your plugs and then maybe your compression.... remember autozone does free engine diagnosics so they can erase the error codes and see if they reset themselves... perhaps you just fouled your plugs?

hey is this happening when you start your car and it makes the little shaking noise, cuz this is happening to me also, and if it is happening to you i might as well take my car to the dealership and see what is wrong with it thanks

I thought there was a tsb out for multi cylinder misfire problem. The solution was to replace the ecu and injectors.

well that's what they did last time(last year)....when i didn't have my CAI.....and then it went away......
z6Joker9....i remember u saying something like that some time ago....and that's the first thing that came into my mind when they told me that.......and yeah the codes for missfiring is 300,301,302,303,304......i think the 300 is the code for multiple missfiring
