Ok if i have to type out this long ass thing again i am going to shoot myself. it took my 20 minutes to make the ast one! now that i am done complaining. ok well i will make the abridged version this time. basically i had my heart set on a 15.5 last night. i got a 15.7 and a 15.9 though. not bad for a Gt with springs ,pully, intake, exhaust, and SS. i am getting the strut tower brace and front lower tie bar soon. i may end up getting the header, and the S-afc if i can get a good deal on a used one. plus i have crappy tires for the track. and it was only 70 degrees out last night. and with that being said, i think i can potentially hit low- mid 15's in this little GT that could.

i have the slips so people dont think i am BS's ing anyone, i just gotta take pics of them so i can post them. fisrt race was against a shelby cobra 427. thats what i call an even race. second race was against a early 90's eagle talon tsi with intake, exhaust, BOV, boost controler, etc. i had his ass until about half way down the track.

Your launches aren't bad at all actually. But judging from your time slips it seems you are losing a lot on your shifts. Or you're losing it somewhere else.. you have the gas peddle all the way down right? :p

i cant shift like a bat outa hell so it isnt that. its something though. hmm..... crappy tires? i dunno i know its not the shifting, i sware i was mashed on the gas. but i think i should be around 15.5 i am loosing a few 10th's somewhere

11-29-2001, 08:21 AM
well the launches arent bad but if you were pulling 2.2s like maeflyn then youd be at around 15.4 or 15.5.. but his car is just special..dont expect to see many GTs running 15.0s..

I think it is the tires seriously. i have 215/40zr17's. they are falken zeix. they dont hook up so great. i had them at 30 psi. i didnt know how much to let out, normally they are at around 35 psi for daily driving. should i have gone 25 psi? well i think when i get a new set of tires i will see the 2.2's . then i will see 15.4 and 15.5's.
So i guess Maelfyn,143hawaii, and me are the fastest Gt's so far if i am correct. the others also have that Apexi S-afc which i am lacking. i know properly tuned i will pick up some juice from that as well.

You're racing on 17s? bwaah that will explain a few things. Full interior doesn't help either. How much do those 17s weigh with the tires? Go get your bathroom scale. Stock 15s are 35 lbs.

GTs run very lean low to mid range in RPMs. An s-afc will help your launches and your pull slightly. Your max whp will not increase much though.

ditch the wheels, put on stocks, lower pressure in front to 22 and 40 in back. if that don't put you into low-mid 15s, then you SUCK AND SHOULD GO THE HELL AWAY.

just kidding :D good luck.

From what i remeber my 17's weigh alot less than the stock hubbies. i will try that next time though. too bad the stockers are 200 miles south of here.:sad

i had tires pressure at about 30 on all 4 wheels. lol. the other thing. those hub wheels are not only heavy, they come with crappy bridgestone potenza's wont they suck at the track???

maelfyn are you using the hub caps wheels or the upgraded 15's? and what tires?

If that dude in the Cobra could launch his car, he'd be in the 12's. Still my dream car... someday...:sad

I'm using the stock 15" rims and the stock Potenzas.

I call BS. No way in hell.:D
Hey man, I was kinda surprised to get in four runs that night, but fourth one wasn't any better. I couldn't launch that fukker if my life depended on it, along with couple other things like the CEL, the extra weight, and I tell you Dunlop should not be making tires...period.
I'm happy for you, but pissed at myself. I'm gonna try to go tomorrow w/ a couple friends. You up for it, dude?

Err, my 17's are 35lbs each. Will I be able to launch like as if I have 15's?

I wouldn't drag on my 17's though, maybe on the 16's. What's the weight on the 16's with tires, anyone know?

Well, I did better...but I still know I can do better. I beat a GSR:), 16.3 vs 16.4. Planning on going back next week w/ the pully in and exhaust unbolted.

You finally did it man, its not you shifting that is keeping you from low 15's, its Orlando, that Maeflyn guy probably is a good 20 to 30 degrees cooler than us, which up there would give you low 15's.

Sorry i couldn't go, i had to get my rotors fixed and ****, i still want to go again and maybe with my new car i could actually hit 14's?

you guys really overestimate weather.. it might take off .1 to .2, not much more than that.. unless your talkin the diff between 90 and 20 degrees..

Well you are underestimating our over estimation. lol:confused: did i say that right. lol. seriously we have some crap weather. we have high humidity rates as well. altitudes must also do something, i have no clue what though. i need to get my damn oil changed its old,& the idiots at tuffy auto put too much oil in my car last time. lol, so we see what it is like when the crank isnt drowning so much in oil. jk. i will do it. i know i can do it. i think i am gonna swing bottle's before the end of the month and pick up the cusco lower tie bar, and tanabe strut tower brace. then i wanna throw on the 15's and hit the track. I know if Maelfyn can do it,i can do it, as long as all things are equal (beyond the S-afc) and his track isnt faster or something of the sort.

So factor in next time i will have a little less roatating weight, smaller rims, front end stiffened for launching, and colder weather, i think i should be able to shed a few tenths of a second off of my ET's. i guess it was worth getting the lightest possible celica. jk. :D

Hey guys, I am new to this celica world. I read what you guys been talking about and just wondering where do you guys race at? I suppose is a race track but do you just like go there and race or do you have to like register or something? Is any of you guys are from PA, is there any race track like that in PA? Thanks guys
