One thing you should think about is sun glare off a white dash reflected on to your windshield. This can be a real problem particularly if the painted dash has even a hint of gloss.

I would like to know how to get JUST the passengers side airbag cover off. (without taking out the whole dash) --- bluceliboy --- sorry for asking a ? on your thread but it is somewhat related. I do not want to remove the entire dash, but I do want to get the airbag cover off.
Also --- I think dookiegraphics did pull out his entire dash in a previous post to paint it --- you may want to get in touch with him --- he did say it was very akward though (removal of the dash). Once again --- sorry I couldn't be of some assistance. Peace

Pulling the whole dash is a major, major pain in the a$$. If you can afford to pay some one else to do it, I say go for it. It can definately be done by yourself, it's just really frustrating and time consuming. I pulled my dash myself and it was a pain.
removing the passenger side air bag is extreamley easy. You start by removing the lower finishing panel on the passenger side of the car. It is the peice that contains the glove box. It is held on with 5 screws, two are on each side of the panel, and the other 3 can be accessed by opening the glove box. Now, this is very important, disconnect the battery and wait a MINIMUM of 20 sec before you go on. The air bag carries a 20 second reserve after the power has been disconnected so it can still function if it loses power during an impact. If you wait 20 sec's the power will be gone and the air bag will not accidentally deploy. Now all you have to do is crawl under the dash where you just removed the finishing panel. You will be able to look right up at the air bag. All that holds it in place are one bolt and two nuts, they are easy to spot because they are right around the parimeter of the air bag holding it in place. Remove the bolt and nuts. Now follow the wire that goes into the air bag untill you find the connector that connects it to the wiring harness. This wire has a special connector that is used on all toyota air bag systems. All you need to do to dissconnect it is slide the little tab up and pull it apart. I love these connectors, they are much easier to dissconnect than the other styles where you have to press a tab down and slid the connector appart. Well, thats it, now just pull the air bag up and out from the top. All that's involved is dissconnecting your batter and removing 5 screws, one bolt, and two nuts.

I pulled the entire interior out. The whole thing is going to be a full custom job. There is a lot of hand laid custom fiber glass work being done to the peices and things are being custom molded into the dash, not to mention the entire interior is going through a complete color change. I've been working on it for quite a while, and it will be done soon, yay! I'll post some pics when it is completed, which will hopefully be in a week or two.

are you wanting to pull the entire dash out, or just the center dash console?

Damn, I bought some LEDs to put in my a/c vents, I didn't know it was going to be that much of a pain to get the dash off. I wonder how much it would cost to have some one else mess with it.
