Today i was on an incline slope parking and I had to reverse my way out. Being the newbie driver that I am, I accidently redlined my car to 7000-8000 rpm on reverse for like 1 second. I am really scared right now. Do you think my engine won't last as long now that I've redlined it? I currently have 360 miles on my car. Can you guys help me out?

Not a big deal. Pretty interesting considering you have a GT :p

I don't think it is as big of a deal as some people on this board would make you believe. In fact, if pushing your car during the first 1000 miles was such a big deal, then a lot of people would have major problems with their car since most of us have cars that were test driven and when I test drove, I took the car up in speed to make sure it was adequate for what I wanted.

Did your car actually have 0 miles on it when you bought it, or did it have a few on it from people test driving it? If it had a few already on it, the engines probably been to redline already a bunch of times ;)

I agree. I took mine for a test drive and I red-lined it in almost every gear. Then I fell in love with it and wanted a GT-S. The only problem was that they only had the one I took out on the lot. I couldnt wait so I had to either get a GT or that one. I bought the one I beat on :D

Never had a problem with it.

 The sad thing about that comment is that some people on this board are actually convinced that this break in period matters SOOO much with a car. If it does matter so much, then buying a used car would be a huge risk because you would have no idea whether the person had "broken in" the engine or not.

Don't worry about it. It is not a big deal and how the hell did you get your GT to rev up to 8000? :wtf:

Try not to rev too high until 1000miles but doing it once or twice wouldn't hurt the engine. Trust me. My car is running fine after all that high revs during break in period.

I didn't believe the story, so I tryed to do that ( 8000 rmp in reserse ) just to find out that it is simply impossible.

If your car really can do that then there might be something wrong.........

yeah, i don't believe it either. unless you weren't in gear and you thought you were and you started rolling forward and floored it. i dunno
