Retard Timing?

i am currently...but rarely, running a nx wet kit 75 shot. and i/h/e.
i got a 00 gt 5 speed. if possible should i retard my timing? what does "retard timing" actually mean? will it actually help car's performance? any and all opinions...

retarding the timing could mean retarding the ignition timing, or the intake or exhaust cam if you had cam gears and cams but since you dont im assuming you mean ignition timing which on the Celica is controlled all by the ECU.. you would need a standalone..
