I was just wondering if anyone else had to order their Celica and if so how long did it take to get in? I ordered my back on May 3. It was a Black GT with the Action package. Then after driving my friends 5-speed 00' Prelude I changed my order to a manual on May 31. The dealer told me it would take 90 to 120 days to get in. But they are giving me all my add on parts at cost. The total is going to be $22,000 with a moonroof, action package, upgrade package, cold area package, carbon fiber dash, abs, side air bags, alloys, TRD exhaust and TRD fog lights, installed. Is this price about right? I also want them to add the TRD short shifter but I'm not sure if it will work on a 2002. Also, do you think it will be a 2002 model or a 2003, I don't know when the factory in Japan starts building the 2003.

By the way this forum is awesome. It's already given me so many new ideas. I plan on saving up money over the winter and buying a WCtoyota Turbo Kit.

I bought the short ram intake because I plan on buying a tubo kit. I got it for $180 shipped through the NC.org store and I recieved it 4 days later. I'm getting the carbon fiber center dash kit from the dealer for $199. The gauge trim I won off of ebay for $19.99, It looks pretty cool too.

That is a good price. I ordered a GT and it too 6 months, and I didn't even get the exact car I wanted. I ordered it in October and took delivery in April.

I was told it would take 4 months MAX.

i was looking for a 2002 gts 6 speed with the XY package
it was in october of last year.
none were in my dealers district so he put in a preference order.
apparently toyota of japan does not accept direct orders.
a preference is put out. if one that matches (or is close to your specifications) it is alloted to your dealer in your district. that is if no1 else is looking for the same car and "preferenced" it before you.

i know it sounds like total BS. i dealt with it and almost withdrew my order.
i ordered the car w/o deposit on oct 23, 2001
i picked the car up jan. 25, 2002

Even though i had preferenced the car in the district (107 dealers in the NY.NJ,CT area) another dealer got it allocated to them. My dealer had to wheel&deal inventory to get it. I think he had a Sequia sent to them.

SO thats how i finally got the car 3 months later.
He showed me a breakdown that was interesting. It was a flow chart of how many GTS' were being alloted to the district per month. The district is comprised of 107 dealers in my area. If i remember correctly this is how it went down.

They were averaging 7 GTS' with the 6speed per month to be fought over by 107 dealerships. On average 3 of theses were action packed. SO i had to just wait for the proper color to come in.
Its long and complicated yes.
and hard to explain here.
email me at twanmoney@aol.com
and maybe i can explain better via the phone

hope this has been some help, cya!

twanmoney is completely correct. If you want to expidite actually getting your car you should "order" whatyever toyota.com's "build your own" says is available in your area. They aren't kidding. You can't just have a celica built how you want it.

I hope it doesn't take that long to get. Did they call you up and keep you posted? The dealer told me that they would finish any orders they had left and then they would change the assembly line to put together the new orders. And if there were a bunch of cars that had the same options I could get the car faster. Also, some of my options they said they would put on at the dealership. Hopefully since we're at the end of production for the 2002 I can get mine sooner. Your cars were right at the beginning of production. I'll just have to wait and see.

My car was built in Japan on May 7th and I have had it for two weeks now. However, my order was placed directly by Toyota of America, so they had to build my specific car and it may have gotten here a bit sooner than most. However, yours will probably be arriving very soon.

Yes, a lot of your options aren't factory options. The TRD foglights for example will be installed at your dealer.

What held me up was that I requested to NOT have factory fogs, and I also asked for side air bags. There aren't many GTs made that way. I ended up changing my "order" and got the car w/ fogs, and w/o airbags.

The dealer didn't keep me posted because they didn't know what was going on. I ended up calling them every few weeks.

I don't think you'll have to wait as long as I did - but if you do, just remember it is worth it! PLus, you get some time to save up for it.

As for me I was kind of glad it took so long. They dump a ton of salt on the roads here in the winter, so April was the perfect time to get the car!

Hang in there, it's worth the wait! (especially since you got a good deal on your car).

go back and read my post
celica's are built in japan
toyota of america cannot order a car specifically

it works how i described above:
one comes off the line....matches what you want....is allocated to your district.
if your dealer has a preference put out for that exact car (or close to it) it will default to him/her.

Mine took a lil over 3months.
One hit the area.....same options but with the auto-dimming mirror that i did not order. Dealer told me about it.....i told him i didnt wanna pay for it (260$ i think).
Made him eat the cost and i got the option free =)

And yes during those 3 months i was calling the dealer everyother week
