There is something wrong with my headlights. When I drive with them, and I turn off the car and come look at them, they are all fogged up (mostly the driver side one), and it's really annoying and looks horrible. What can I do? Should I bring it to the dealership and have it looked at? Will they replace them? (I'm still under warranty)

wait for a couple days of sunny weather, if they dont clear up, bring them to the dealer i think... but this does happen to a lot of people... not just celica owners

I've been waiting for around 1 month, lol. Not cleared up yet, and when they do clear up, they're all ugly and with water spots on the inside, plus when I turn them on, (DRL's), they fog up again.

well... just my newbie suggestion: Condensation seems to get in when your headlights aren't air tight.. maybe you were changing a bulb and it started to rain? (this happened to me before) :p Anyway, open up a bulb slot and maybe the condensation will leak back out. It's worth a shot anyway... let it air out for a bit on a nice dry day.

Make sure all of your bulb housings and your other bulbs are in snug.

Thanks a lot, I'll try that. I've searched some more and found only like 2 more posts about this, but other suggested trying to air out the headlights, so I'll do that. If it doesn't work, I'm going to the dealer, lol!

Great! I'll take it in soon. Did you pay ANYTHING to get them fixed? What about for labor, or was it all covered by warranty?

Thanks!

BTW, the headlights do have a condensation drain hose located behind the turn signal, so if they don't clear up quickly, they definitely have a major leak somewhere.

Yeah, I guess they do have a leak. If/when the dealer replaces them, how long do you think it will take for them to do everything and get the car back to me?

It happened to me too. You dont want to wait to long cuz you headlights will end up getting yellow inside. Takig it in if your under warrenty. They just replaced mine and told me the sealent was broken. I took it in at noon and I just went to pick it up after work. They can get it done in an hour if they wanted to but of course they take thier sweet azz time.

Happened to me too, on my driver side, and I think it's happening on my passenger side too!
(Damn this florida summer weather!!!) :bang:
They mention something about the cheap plastic housing for the bulb not having a very good seal and, thus, moisture getting in causes the condensation. I guess I should jus' save or wait for some aftermarket headlights!

I've had both of my headlamps replaced by Toyota. No questions asked. Just told them that they fogged up and they placed an order for me.

I just went to the dealer today and dropped my car off. I described the situation, but the lights were not fogged up at the time i dropped off the car, so they were questioning on when they fog etc. They said they will look into it and see what's wrong, but they're not sure they can make the headlights fog up again (but they do all the time usually, during cold nights and such). So I don't know what to do if they say they coulnd't find the problem therefore they didnt fix it.. It's obvious, there's watermarks on the inside of the headlight. What should I do if they refuse to replace the headlights?

I had the same problem with both of my headlights. I first took my car to the dealership where I bought it and the guy said that it is a common problem in celica's and that there was no way to fix it. Then I called another dealership and they said they could fix it and told me to bring it in and they could fix it the same day. So, thats what I did. But I got a phone call from the dealership and they said they looked at it and told me they couldn't fix it for free under the warranty, it would cost me $500 to get fixed. The guy said the driver side headlight had been messed with because it is not even with the side panel. He could also tell that the brake box was cracked and there was over spray inside the hood and also the screws have been removed in the front which indicated the front bumper had been removed. I have never had any damage concerning my front bumper(that I know of anyway). Now I have two headlights with condensation and I am not paying $500 to fix the problem. So, I am clueless about what I should do now. I hope your headlight gets fixed!!

Yeah, I hope I get mine fixed, and I hope you get something done too. If they say it's not under warranty, I will print out this whole thread, and show it to them. If they still don't do n e thing, then screw it. $500-700 isnt worth getting the headlights replaced. Until then, I'll pray they fog up while the technicians examine them!

Whenever I have time I am going to go to ANOTHER dealership and see what they say. Let me know if you get yours fixed.:)

Alright, well I got the car from the dealer, and they haven't fixed it, but I understand why. They want to see when it's fogged up, because they have never seen this before there they don't know if it needs to be replaced, and when I gave them the car, they light's weren't fogged up. They tried to fog them up by putting water over them and by blowing cold air on them, but it didn't work. However, they were very nice, and explained everthing very well, and said that when the headlights fog up again, to drive to the dealer right away, so they can see it, and they will replace/fix everything (under warranty ofcourse). Now, all I need to do is to fog them up!

That's my last resort if they don't fix them. Wouldn't want to do that BEFORE I try to get them fixed, cauz you know they'll blame it all on me for openening the headlights.

Alright, well today was good! I went to the dealer after my summer college session (geez, college sucks, especially in the summer, and it feels so easy compared to my high school, but so boring!). Anyway, one of my headlights stayed fogged up the whole night, and the whole day, so I went went to Hayward Toyota. THe guy didn't know what to do, but then another guy came up and said that he had to replace the headlights on anotehr celica just a few days ago. They ordered me some headlights (both, even though the other one wasn't fogged up at the moment), and they said to come in next week when they recieve them, so they could install them. They haven't said a thing about money, therefore I believe it's all under the warranty (it should be anyways!). Im happy.
