View Full Version : "Blade Exhaust Filters: Save Gas and the Environment". Seriously?

So I recently came upon this "gadget" which presumably "Save Gas, Saves Money, and Stop Global Warming." Now I'm all for the first two, (third, doesn't really matter all that much to me).

I guess its supposed to be a 'filter' that attaches to your tail pipe, to 'catch' unburnt gas and other emissions. They have a whole section explaining how it 'works'. They go through details about cold-start times (how its when the car is working in its most inefficient state, which makes sense), which brings the catalytic converter to the ideal operating temperature. And they say that the device device decreases this time.

They also go on to explain Volumetric efficiency. Which is the amount of air the engine takes in, compared to its ideal theoretical max. They say that it brings the VE closer to the ideal value.

The only problem with this is that they don't explain how it actually works. How does it decrease the cold-start time? and how does it increase the volumetric efficiency?

The company also explains how they have 'test results'....which is pretty much numbers and graphs punched in onto an spreadsheet.

The damn thing costs $200, plus you have to buy filters for it? Catching unburnt gas at the end of a tail pipe, which is really hot btw is a wonderful idea. They also market it as "looking cool".

This is about as bad as that the time the "Tornado" failed, and the marketers switched it around to and "exhaust extractor" by putting it in your tail pipe.

Do they seriously think that this is a viable product?
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to go get two, one for the exhaust, and one for my intake. After all, it can hurt to have more right?"
(Hint: Sarcasm)

And many americans will buy this, just like that scam of selling carbon credits.

people in America are fortunate to buy stuff that doesn't need to be bought

Bottled Water, Oxygen Bars, and this list can go on and on

I call it Bull
Engine exhaust are things that comes out of engine it does not use.
Most filter simply traps these things, they do not convert them to something else.
Sure when you measure the exhaust gas after you put this on it is a lot cleaner, but these trapped chemicals will sooner or later be released into the environment so it is deceiving.
So why waste performance when you still make the same "carbon footprint" anyways?

Just like the Prius, it sounds good but damage it does to get the Nickle (NiCad) to make the battery pack that needs to be changed every 5 years is not so green. It is there for the "environmentalist" to feel better about themselves.

If you like this bull**** you should check out the electric supercharger and vortex intake piece lol

If you read their "how it works" they have alot of great information about how an engine works, but their explanation that says how their product works says that it just does. it "reduces cold start times".. but it never says how.

it "improves VE".. but it never says how..

Wow. Looks like an expensive coffee filter holder that you put on the tail pipe. I have no doubt that it would collect soot and prevent it from going into the air, but who gives a sh|t? It is causing restriction and will either keep your mpg the same or most likely decrease it. That's all it's gonna do.

if you send me money, ill help you reduce emissions. im not going to say how, or back it up with any facts, just my claims. but send me money
