regarding the lower front grille part that toyota makes, does it really work to keep road debris from hitting the condenser? for the pics that i have seen, the honeycomb type mesh is quite large and it seems that still small rocks and bugs canstill get in at highway speeds. Is it worth the $40+ to get it?

Protection is important. You may search for condenser problems from owners without grilles. Buy some from Home Depot for a few bucks. Here's the expensive stuff from Kaminari.

Go to Home Depot and get a front lower grille for $1.37.

its a bit more than $1.37, but its still far cheaper than any aftermarket custom grills, like grillcraft or anything.

I don't know about where you live, but in Memphis, every Home Depot and Lowe's has them for that much.

I went the easy and cheap route, and got mine from Blue Bomber. It works very well.
