View Full Version : Relay Switch required when using Window Switch?

I was on the Si board and I noticed that they recommended a high current relay to boost the RPM signal from the ECU when using a window switch. They said there would not be enough current after the switch to properly opperate the tach on the dash. I will have a S-AFC and a window switch reading this RPM signal. So I'm wondering if I can get away without one and if not, if someone could recommend me one? Thanks.

Just by a Bosch SPDT relay there like $12. If you don't need who cares, better safe that sorry.

actually thats just for them.. you have enuf amperage coming to provide power to the tach, the window switch and even a shfit light :).. but you are supposed to use a horn relay inline on the window switch to keep from frying it.. or so Mallory told me

Oh Mallory is a company. :) I have the MSD Window Switch. I'll look it up on Google and see if I can find anything else. Thanks for the heads up...

I've been told the NX window switch is the same as the MSD, i just installed a nx window switch on my car running nitrous. I had problems trying to run both my aftermarket tach and the switch at the same time. The stock tach and autometer tach would just not work. I solved the problem simply by running a relay off the tach wire from the ECU. Boosts the signal and voila, everything works. Simple electronics.
