Do you know when and where World Racing plans to race the Celica, or at least when they'll release specs about the TRD-built engine? When does the new import race season start? Thanks in advance for any info you can share.

Yeah, I'm interested too in when the Rado Celi will be able to compete. The Skunk2 RSX's are being prepped up as the current moment (though they might be in different classes) I just want them to go up and compare times http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/smile.gif

GTSnut,
Thanks. Yeah, can ya post all the specs you have for the rest of the car? Also, do you know the target date for the debut of Rado's Celi at the track?
It's first race will be in March in Florida I think. The official debut will be at Englishtown a week later though. I'll be there for that one.

GTSnut,
Awesome! Thanks for the info! Did World Racing release any info on the unibody Celica yet?
another 4-speed!!! HELL YEAH!!! http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
i wonder what the gearing is like and where fuel cutoff is. <IMG SRC="http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/smilies/cwm13.gif" border=0>
do they use VVTL-i? if they do, they're using different, probably more aggressive cams, no?
The unibody was sent to be dipped today and Cousin Bob will be the driver when it's ready. The motor will be built by World in an attept to produce 900 hp or blow it up, whatever comes first.
Lift is not used in the tubeframe and I don't have specs on the cams. That info is available in Turbo magazine.

Thanks for giving them the info pimp daddy... All of it is correct and we do want to make more power than TRD for the Uni-Body, TRD is saying like 750 to the wheels for their enigne though, and that is about what we made in the integra, shouldn't be a problem, the 2ZZ bottom end seems much stronger than the Honda. Later Guys!

Why do they call this thing a "Celica" as it bears no resemblance to our cars and has few if any actual Celica parts?
It's really a Kit car.

do they use VVTL-i? if they do, they're using different, probably more aggressive cams, no?There was a article about the World Racing 2ZZ in the July '01 Turbo Magazine.
It doesn't mention the gearbox, but it stated that their target was 9800rpm.
And it stated they would be using TRD Japan camshafts (no further info on the cams in the article). The VVTL-i would be disabled for now (both varaible lift and timing), and possibly restored in the future, once the get the engine running well without it.
However, some of the Turbo data might be incorrect by now. For instance, Turbo states they planned to use a 9.0:1 CR, but GTSnut states above that they actually ended up using a 9.4:1 .CR

I'm anxiously awaiting the Unibody Celica racer. I'm possibly EVEN MORE eager to see it run than it's big brother, since it will resemble our Celica's much more than Rado's tube-frame monster.

it's got a 2ZZ-GE, and it looks like a celica somewhat. what more do you want from something that's supposed to run 7s and have a parachute?
