Okay....a total newbie question, but I guess I'm in the right place. Anyway, I've got an '02 GT, and I'm thinking about adding an intake. I'm not expecting a huge performance gain, but what can I realistically expect? How much HP? Will I be able to feel a difference?

Also, any brands to stay away from? I'm leaning towards Injen at the moment...

cold air works better for explosion in the cylinder i guess.
engine can take more air if it's cold air. more amount of air.
i think you should put exhaust and header together.
then you will probably feel that you are driving without one person.
you wont feel any difference with just intake.
it's just the sound that makes u feel it's gotten little faster.

colder air is more dense than warmer air.. which means that per unit volume of air you'll have more. With more air entering and passing through the Mass Air Fow Sensor and Air Temp Sensor the ECU recognizes this increased amount and decreased temperature as more air entering the engine. It corrects for this by adding more fuel to the trim during fuel injection. More air + more fuel + spark = more power / RPM... you can see a net between 5 and 7 % to the wheels.

gts laid, do you have any websites which show how the ecu works in adjusting the amount of fuel added to the engine so that the mixture is neither lean or rich? Or if anyone does, I'd really like to know how the ecu adjusts. thanks.

the way i know about it is from reading the diagnosis pages for the CELs ... specifically the P0171 Code... it explains why the CEL comes on... I'll make a PDF for you.. one sec.
