i had my 77 vette repainted after i plopped a crate motor in there.
the new manifold i had sat a little higher.
so the air cleaner was closer to the inside of the hood.
i didnt replace the insulation because of that.
summer rolled around. temps got hotter
the paint on the outside of my hood started to bubble.
:(
had it repainted.
and insulation re-installed.
mind you, this insulation came stock on the car. i just didnt replace it.
on the celica (that doesnt come with it) i dont see a reason to add it.
any1 else care to comment?

It would help protect your paint on the hood as twanmoney mentioned, plus it would reduce the engine noise levels heard outside the car.
Hey twanmoney, I had a vette too, a 76, and when the previous owner had it repainted from red to black two years before I got it, he never replaced the hood insulation. The paint wasn't bubbling or anything, but it was noticably duller than the rest of the paint, so I reinstalled hoodliner and had the hood repainted. Maybe its a corvette thing, the engine bays must get extra hot. It was with the original stock engine too, no modifications.
