May be old news to some, but I've been out of circulation a lot lately :)...
Anway from Motor Trend's website, read this article! (http://www.motortrend.com/nov01/evo/evo_f.html)
An excerpt:
Mitsubishi has a couple details to address before import into the United States is ensured, namely intercooler/bumper packaging and California emissions. We're told that the target price would be well under $30,000. The intention is to bring the car over as is, with changes limited to government requirements.
ETA is 4th quarter of 2002.

LOL! :D....you and me both! That price (if it holds to that!) is amazing though - it they can hold it to that figure of mid 20's, these things will sell like hotcakes I would think (not to mention drastically undercut the STi).

MPH instead of KM/H on the speedo... and left hand driver...
2500 units with 250 HP coming out next year, then more units with an increase to 280 HP after...

So what? Just another four-door sedan, having nothing to do with my coupe. It weighs an A.T.V. more than mine, and has all the turbo complexity that some people are justified in not liking, since we have so many other choices. And don't forget the Mitsubishi parts scam. Go to a WRX forum and spout... maybe they'll care. I prefer coupes. I also prefer hatches. The Evo is neither. Let's not care about how much "faster" someone thinks it is than Celicas... there will always be something "faster" than anyone's anything. It's nice people have new choices in cars... but I picked mine out of over 500 offered in the US. Rhys's is nice but I'm with Rod. :yawning

My buddy that is a huge mitsu fan, called up one of the local dealerships here and asked about it, they said that he could reserve one for a $4000 deposit  .
Whatever they say about pricing is gonna be out the window for the first few months of it being here. I can see some s2000 type numbers ,, --ya know, like 3-4k over msrp or something stupid like that. The dealer's will take advantage of the people that can't wait.

I noticed the subject says coming to north america, not coming to america. I know mitsu is going to set up dealerships in canada in 2003 with a limited lineup. The lancer well be one of the cars avalible but does anyone know for sure if the evo well be available

Someone's new to the import game now, isn't he.
If anyone is dumb enough to call the Evo, "another four-door sedan" they trully need a users guide to the import scene....

Ouch.. a little harsh against hte newbie dude! but yeah... to compare the EVO VII to any normal sedan is like comparing a 360 Modena to a Paseo, its just not the same. Its just THAT sweet. I can't wait for it to come out here, its been one of my fav's for a long time, along with the WRX. So what if its only 250 HP? thats plenty enough for me, especially if it goes for under 30Gs... The WRX right now is around 25Gs with 227 hp, and its selling like a monster.

Newbe? Because I've been too busy driving to screw around on the computer? I'm so old that I don't even hate Hondas... I hate Camaros and Mustangs from my '87 HKS RX-7 Turbo days. Actually, who else do YOU know that was installing TRD parts in 1985? (Corrolla GTS Twin Cam 16, and TRD meant track parts... way too hard for your pansy-ass!)Isn't it obvious that I said that comment just to keep things spicy around here? It's a Toyota Celica Forum . And did I lie? Is the Evo 7 NOT a four door sedan? Hey, nothing wrong with that, the Evo, the WRX, the M5, M3, AMG's, S4's and all the others are great cars. But I expected to find unique Celica owners, with their insect-like hatchback coupes and tiny 1.8's. What I am finding appears to be people who don't own Celicas, talking about brand X all the time. Who cars? Whatever....

I don't think I'll be quiet has harsh, but I'll have to agree. Calling the Evo just another 4 door sedan is like calling the Skyline just another AWD car... If the Evo really does make it here, you'll sure as hell see me trading in my Celi for some AWD turbo ass kicking action.

Actually most reports (from i-club at least) point to a slightly lower powered STi. Around 250hp is what I have heard. Same as the Euro version because of emissions.
