Just a few questions regarding this guy as a seller:
1. Anybody ever had a problem with him?
2. What was the longest time that he took to ship out your item?

I just bought a hood from him a few months ago which he allowed me to make payments on and he worked with me through out the whole transaction... and he had it shipped quick. No problems here.

There's another post on here about him being slow. While his long term history looks to be good, his recent history does not appear to be as perfect. Others had been complaining of slow shipping in the other post, and I was beginning to see the same thing and I commented in it as well. I told him I didn't want to wait and just wanted my money back, and he instead shipped the item. Initially, I thought this was good, but then the package arrived damaged. There wasn't any insurance put on the package (a carbon fiber hood) and I can only claim the default $100 and am basically screwed. He has been rather unresponsive and claims he requested extra insurance, but it's not on the receipt. He sent me some messages saying he'd "get it resolved," only to hear back from him saying he didn't know who to contact. I gave him several options, including looking at the shipping company's website, calling them directly, calling the claim's person directly (whom I gave him the number for), or calling/visiting the station he shipped the package from. I told him this claim needed to be resolved within 7 days of receipt of shipment, and that has long since passed. His final response to me was that it was "odd" that the receipt was blank and he seems to want to leave it at that. His response time has been slow. And while I understand people having lives and being busy, you owe some responsibility if you sell something to someone--to be responsive, honest, and trustworthy. You don't have to be these things and claim you are too busy and it's just some used parts, but then you start p*ssing people off because buyers have lives too (including being busy, and valuing the worth of a dollar).

He also said 2 other packages he sent out recently were damaged by Greyhound recently, and I am curious to know if those other packages were worth more than the default $100, and if they were insured for more than that, and how those transactions went. It would have only cost a couple bucks to insure a few hundred dollars more. Interestingly, he has enough time to come back here nearly every day and update his for sale threads. Good luck to the more recent buyers.

Oh, and as for the condition of the carbon fiber hood I got vs. what I thought I was buying, it was not quite accurate. He told me the clear coat was faded and just needed a buff and wax. I expected to perhaps need to color sand, then buff and wax worst case scenario. Instead, I get a hood that has been re-clear coated very poorly, with a ton of orange peal (some spots as rough as sand paper). The clear coat is flaking off in several spots (old and new clear coat), and you can see spots where the original clear coat had flaked off and had been sprayed over with the new clear, which makes a strange-looking spot. Did he intentionally mislead me? I have no idea. I don't know what his auto-body skills are like, but I do know someone's feedback, good or bad, did not in any way guarantee a similar experience from me. The ironic part was, I had bought a set of radio brackets from him not 2 weeks for the hood, and everything went perfectly (fast shipping, good communication, etc....)

hm... I'm basically having a slow transaction with him and it's exactly like how you ^ said mnwolftrack. But I found out his grandpa was in the hospital lately so that's y my package that I bought at the beginning of the month was still not here yet. I got so pissed at first but then for his situation, I willing to wait... as of now since most pple on here put more pro than cons. I'm giving him some slacks. Hopefully my item will get to me undamaged and on time like he said it would.
Else... part 2 will be up.

Soon2beriding, No, no, not at all! Our deal required the item be shipped from Canada to (I forget where exactly, Texas first?) Southern US, back to Canada to you, and then to me in MN. No problems at all. I'm surprised it went as quick as it did (from my limited experience shipping into out of the US, customs can be slow), and you provided good communication through the whole thing. It's my fault I haven't tried the gauge yet. It's a Christmas present for my wife (Prius) and I quite frankly haven't gotten a good opportunity to test it without her in the car(s). I actually just sent you a PM before I saw your reply here. I wouldn't have left you hanging if I was upset with anything.

I think R K E 1 CA has known I was not pleased after he told me a couple times the hood would ship and it didn't (and I saw the other recent post about slow shipping), and I quite frankly wished he would never have shipped the hood and just issued a refund like I originally asked. I was told that his work place was busy.

Great thanks.....yes i kept communication thru the hole thing to let you know what was going on.....because that's how i would like to be served if someone was sellin something to me ...not leavin me out in the blue...

BTW Wolf how much time did he take to ship to you in total??

i sell and ship just as much stuff as him and lots of things can cause a slow shipment. If 3 or 4 items sell for the same price and we are paid through paypal and the buyer doesn't list what he bought we have no way of knowing what part is yours. Also if this isn't his full time job you have to spread yourself between work, pulling parts to ship and spending time with family. He is a great seller you can see his feed back and tell that. Sometimes things just take time.

The original poster didn't ask about potential problems. He asked two very specific questions. And I don't think the question ultimately comes down to what can cause slow shipping. I think it's more or less buyer expectation based on communication that took place (or the lack of it).

I can't speak for the original poster's experience, but I have bought and sold a lot of things myself on various forums, eBay, etc.... Just because I am new(er) to this forum, my seemingly new-ness has no reflection on my ability to buy/sell etc....

If you are in the situation of frequently receiving payments for the same amounts for different items from different buyers, is that really the buyer's fault? Are all buyers aware that you buy/sell in such volume? Do you ask buyers to specify in the paypal payment the item(s) being purchased? Does this even have anything to do with the original poster's situation? It doesn't with mine. I specified what my payment was for in my paypal, and he replied minutes after my payment acknowledging receipt of payment and preparation of shipment in the morning.

We all have to spread ourselves out between work, family, etc.... Just because someone is a buyer does not mean they can't comprehend what it's like to be a seller. In my own case, my "newness" to this forum bears absolutely no resemblance to the fact I've been buying and selling things for a long time on the Internet, as I'm sure many others have done. We are all busy. Things simply need to be done in a reasonable amount of time, and communication needs to be open (and accurate). If you say you are going to do something, do it. Don't continue to give out reasons why it wasn't done, that it will be done by such and such a date, only to fail to follow through again. This really goes for anything in life, not just buying/selling. I say this not just for my own situation, but for others that have been complaining of slow shipping. If they weren't expecting shipping to take as long (e.g. what was communicated to them), they wouldn't think it their situation was "slow" in the first place. What I was expecting was not what was happening, and I was concerned about it. If someone came back to me with a response why shipping was taking so long and they said "things just take time," I can assure you I will not be a happy camper.

P.S. I've been waiting for a final shipping cost from you (lowredcruzr) since 11-10-08 and you said you were going to get back to me later that afternoon. You didn't....

you know, i always read where some takes for ever on shipping a item and people throw out random excuses why it takes weeks for the item to be sent out. honestly i cant understand why it would take no more than 3 days for someone i sent money to to get my item in the mail on its way to me.

you say its not someones full time job to be a shipper, thats true, however when you post something for sale and someone buys your product, it should be your responsibility to get that person there item ASAP.

i just dont understand why its so hard to stick something in a box and drive 5-10 mins or whatever to the shipping place, spend minutes in there and get someone the item they paid for sent out. saying my great great grandmom is in the hospital still doesnt weigh out the fact that you have people waiting for a product from you. no business stands still cause someones family member needs alittle medical treatment.

cliff notes, if someone buys something for you, ship it within 3 days ffs. just my .02

dang, what you guys have said on here is EXACTLY how I feel toward the seller/buyer responsibility. I sold and bought lots of things online and have never failed to pay on time or failed to ship out anything.
Like I said, things have gone pretty slow with my transaction. However, I understand (or willing to understand) the seller's situation that he gave me as a reason to be late on shipping. Full details will not be discuss YET unless he fails to do what he told me this time.
I'm sitting and waiting...
My order was paid for on 12/1/08, through paypal...
yeah, today is the 22nd... I know... :bang:

^ I feel the same, but I know sometimes pple run into some situation that they can't control and it slowed down their performance. If he had just a few or even 1 negative feedback on his record... then I would not think twice about it. But then may be it's just a bad timing for me to buy from him when he got some situation going on. At least my item was not very important for me to have it right away beside that benefit of convenience when I have my project started and it's better to have everything ready to be installed.
I'm impatience but I will stand by my word and will wait for him in the time frame that I told him that I would wait. If he fails this time... then yeah, I shall be the first buyer to mark a black dot on his white record. I paid instantly at purchase and we both agreed on our words so no way I will get any disadvantage from doing that.
Still, waiting... I'm sure I'll be waiting pass the 26th cuz tomorrow is the last day of business til Christmas holidays kick in. =/
Just great... but I'll keep my word...

by tonight, if he doesn't confirm that he shipped my item already, like he said he would last week, then he's guarantee either: part 2 of this and I get my money back or ship the item and I'll be the first to mark a negative. =(
So far, no email, pm, what so ever from him regarding my item's shipping status.
