Im going to be installing a system in about 3 weeks...
I was wondering if I should replace the stock speakers with better aftermarket ones or just hook them up to the head unit or aftermarket amp..
Also.. how hard is it to run the RCA wires from the head unit to the trunk, do i have to take down molding to get around the back seats? or is it possible to go under them?
Id change them cause your going to have to sooner or later.

You can run rca's under the .....what the hell is it called.....The part at the bottom of the door that says Celica. There is room there and then you can move it between the rear seats and the side panel or behind the side panel w/o rmoving them.

I would reccomend trying a system that uses the factory speakers to see if you like it before you replace them. Usually factory speakers are crap, and swapping them out makes a huge difference. The factory speakers that came in the Celica, however, are actually really good IMHO, if you want a slight increase in sound quality over them, you are going to have to drop a ton of money into the replacements if you want them to outperform them. I have seen people list speakers in their signatures on this board that quite frankly are inferior to the stock ones that they paid money to susposedly "upgrade" from. Just because they are aftermarket doesn't necessaraly make them better than OEM.
Try driving around for a while with a system that is still using the original speakers to see if you like it. If you are unhappy with the performance, or just want more, then take the plunge and upgrade with top notch aftermarket.
Thats my 2 cents...

I would just replace the HU and see how you like the sound of them then. The stock speakers in our Celicas are much nicer than the OEM speakers most companies put in their cars. I am still using my stock speakers in my setup with a 200w Pioneer head unit and it is doing alright for me right now (but I will probably upgrade in the future when I have the funds)

go in this order, then after each one, try to listen to your music after each step then see if your satisfied.
1) repalce HU
2)get a sub and amp.(make sure you get a decent one, just in case if you decide to upgrade the factory speakers, something that can keep up with them)
3)change OEM speakers
4)amp for you cabin speakers
5)Cap and/or battery, if necessary

I replaced everything and I love my system!! The only bad thing is replacing the rear speakers because of the hole that is left after removing the original speaker...I can only advise getting an oversized six and a half speaker. The install was totally easy just a pain in the ass to remove all that plastic in the back. My car looked like it was stollen because I had to take all the plastic out and the upper rear seats.

I have 2 12" Kenwood DB+ subs, a Kenwood Excelon Mono amp peak output is like 1200w and a kenwood excelon 4chan amp which peak output is like 1000w
If I hook up the 4 chan amp to the stock speakers will it over power them?

well to hook up all 4 speakers with the 2 channel amp your going to have to run the speakers in parallel to get them to 2 ohms, cause the factory is 4 ohms. you'll have to look at the power output of your amp to see how low of ohms it can go and at what power rms. i think the stock speakers could handle 75 watts rms each with an aftermarket amp. distortion blows speakers now power.

Heres how I started
I got a new HU and wired it in the the stock speakers, by passed the factory amp and put in a set of 12's in the back with a 2 chan sony amp
Replaced the 12's for a set of xplodes powered by 2 pioneer mosfet 760's
Next I am for sure goin to replaced the interiors for a new componant set and run it off another amp under my seat.
The stock jbl's sound great, but I need something that is a lil louder.

ignore the MAX watts thats all bs anyway. also the speakers are 4 ohms not 2. so 200w at 2 ohms max is 100w at 4 ohms max, which is 50 watts rms at 4 ohms. 50 rms watts will be find on the factory speakers, just don't turn the gains up too high or you'll get clipping. i hear the factory speakers really come alive with some power to them, give it a try.

you may notice your tweeters getting "sibilance" or hissy sounding "S"s. i've noticed that adding power to my stock fronts. kinda sucks. maybe its just me.

go with cadence speakers.. they are cheap not because of bad quality but because they dont advertiise like rf or jl... so they can keep their costs down do a search on the web... id swear by them'
sub wise tho get infinity kappa perfects ... i got 2 12's i love em to death.... and 2 pheonix gold amps...
