....Goodyear Eagle F1's in 225/45/R16 for the rear
...and Toyo R888's in 225/50/R16 for the front
Here is what I want from my tyres:
I want the Goodyear's because -
1) I'm not the best driver on twisties, so I need the extra margin for error via more grip
2) I need high speed stability for stupidness on country roads
3) Most of the rear/middle of my car will be stripped of weight, which wont be there to push down onto the tyres
4) I need a super sticky rear end come rain (and we get a LOT of that over here) or shine
5) I keep hearing rave reviews like, they're better than T1-R's and last longer. The only downside to these tyres is apparently just the price.
I want the Toyo's because -
1) I want something super sticky for street and strip dragging...can I get 2.00 second 60ft times with these tyres?
2) They are meant to be awesome in the dry and I only plan to drive my car from May till November this year anyway
3) They look cool, lol :o:
4) I plan to run rear spring spacers also for when dragging, so that should help the R888's perform even better?
Only other info I need are:
1) How heavy are these tyres in comparison to the lighter Toyo T1-S/R
2) How bad are the Toyo R888's in the wet? Will I be able to drive home safely if it suddenly rains??
Other reasons for me choosing this set up:
-I picked a slightly taller sidewall for the fronts because I know a taller sidewall is important for dragging (primarily what I'll be doing a lot of)
-I seem to believe that the R888's will help me put down close to 300whp (I'll be using nitrous in my car too in the summer), and keep me safe at high speeds with so much torque going to the wheels in 3rd and 4th gear...any truth in that?
-Other tyres like the Azenis and Ecsta MX that you guys swear by, are not available in the UK. Other choices would be A539's, Parada's, Contact Sport's, T1-R's and that's about it, in the UK.
-I contemplated road legal drag radials for the front, but that would be impractical for normal road use, right? Esp when it rains etc...?
FWIW, my suspension set up isn't anything special at all. Just enough to keep me reasonably happy -Eibach Sportlines, TRD Sportivo's and an APR strut bar. Wheels are TE37's in 16" X 8"
Summary:
I need super grip all over for when driving in the twisties and super grip on the rear for when it rains. I need the best for straight line dragging. All crazy driving will be done in the dry summer nights from May to Oct/Nov.
