Beautiful car, but the disadvantage of having something like that is you hardly get to drive the thing since you don't want to mess it up. By the way, why was he opening his door and speaking about his door jam so much?
soceur
06-25-2002, 08:38 PM
**** that. If i spent the money to get my car like that...im driving it whenever and wherever. Its not like id be broke if i had that car. Did i make sense?

prob, the fastest supras are always autos..
memphis_raynes
06-25-2002, 10:08 PM
thats ugly. i dont like it. the ab flug kit is way to extreme. not a big fan of it. and yes, any car with high hp and an auto tranny will be just as fast as a manual, usually.

06-25-2002, 10:31 PM
no actually it has nothin to do with driver error.. its got to do with shifting speed.. an auto can shift it alot faster than the best manual driver, so u can put all that power down faster..so thats why.. =)

Some autos I guess. The Kia Rio I rented on a trip didn't shift fast at all :)

Yea, actually people who are building extremely fast supras would upgrade from their 6-speed to a racing automatic transmission made specially for the supra. :)

06-25-2002, 11:24 PM
imagine havin a car thats soo powerful that u cant shift fast enuff to really get all the power out of it..wow

Actually, one of the guys on the Supra board with a single T88 turbo upgrade and a race-quality sequential automatic transmission just put down 1002, 1022, and 1040 REAR WHEEL horsepower on three separate dyno runs! :AF:

I think its a little OTT for my tastes styling wise, but you cant argue with the power etc :) Im more into the Do-Luck late 98 model, thats the best looking Ive seen.

06-26-2002, 01:27 PM
hey david whats your point.. my celica put down 1289 to the rear wheels once at a dyno run.. =/ or was that 128 ?
ahh the supra..every riceboy's dream car

oh yeah, the abflug supra is a sweet looking car. but i would have to take this supra, as shown in this video...
http://www.exvitermini.com/movies/junjza.mpg
200+mph, street driven... its the same supra from another video with was drifting on a track, and the tires were smoking, and screaming so loud.

In a normal widebody kit, if you opened the door you would see where the extensions are stuck to the stock doors. Those are either completely new doors or the best molding job I have ever seen.

LOL Someone better tell that to Titan....they have a pretty fast 6speed. Yeah, I hear it's breaking some records.... :) Look into it and you'll see for yourself....
I mean look at Mark Tozer and Saad Saad. both are running 6speeds and their cars are not slow. Two of the fastest infact. They don't call him KING for nothing ;)
ALL HAIL SIX-SPEEDS!!!! ALL HAIL SIX-SPEEDS!!!!!

Probably not many because the new GT-S costs way more then a used early Supra N/A and only a little more then what '94-'95 Supra TTs are going for. Myself, I wouldn't bother with an N/A. If you are going to get a mkIV just wait till you have enough cash, and enough financial backing to support the various "supercar" costs, and get the TT. The difference is huge, talking 100HP.

06-28-2002, 11:06 AM
yup... titan's Supra is a 6-speed and just ran a 9.002 in the 1320...
I have got to agree... The Supra's just awesome... The 2JZ-GTE is grossly overbuilt... and you could make huge power with simple bolt-ons and the like... 40RWHP from a downpipe alone that cost's just $300... BPU++ puts down around 420RWHP or more from some of the dyno's i've come across in various mags, talking to the owners, and on the net...
I've been trying to find one for the longest time now...hopefully i'll come across one that's what I'm looking for in the near future...

main reason for auto = great launches = traction = what do 400, 500, and 600 6-speed have in common? 12 second timeslips

They're in Japan dude. Just browse the Toyota Japan website and you'll see that they have PLENTY of turbo'd cars. 1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-GTE, and 3S-GTE, they are all there on the higher end models.

I saw that car selling for $168,000.. That is ridiculous. Who in their right mind would spend that much money on that ride. I would be driving a Ferrari for that price. Not a old a** 98 supra.

Doesnt that Marko (white supra) guy drive a 6-speed, he gets in the 9's, autos are good for drag like you said, but real racers drive manuals :)
ToyoGT
06-30-2002, 01:09 PM
Honestly if I were setting it up for just drag racing then yeah I would use the auto as well. I don't know manuals are just more fun to drive :) But give me either one, I don't care :D
