I picked up some tail overlays from dantegts on ebay. After the first set went horribly wrong he sent me another free of charge. So good support on his part. However, I just can't seem to do this right. this was my second attempt. I started by cleanin fixtures with simple green...had them off the car this time for the install....then soaked adhesive side of vinyl with dish soap and watter from a spray bottle and placed it on as best ligned up as I could. got the majority of bubbles out of the face to give it a good sticking bond. Then have tried stretching the vinyl to cover the rest of the light using both a hair dryer on various settings and with out a dryer and I just can't seem to get it. Are bet's different from the ones I got from denta and are they easier? I mean it's so hard to stretch it perfectly bc it gets so thin it will rip and stuff. And I was pulling slow as I could with firm pressure. Then when I do get it decent it won't hardly stick from all the stretching.
All I want is darker tails..looks like I may have no choice but to try some night shades. Has anyone else tried testers paint even? Maybe bat's overlays would be better quality and easier to install? The stretching part is what gets me everytime!
end of rant

i went the overlay route on mine because i was skeptical about my skills on the spray tinting. after reading a bit more about the spray tint it seems pretty damn easy, i found a pretty informative tinting guide. check this out, its fool proof instructions

I'm not good with applying vinyl either. I tried on my headlights years ago and it was a complete disaster. I've sprayed my tails and my sidemarkers before, but even spray fades over time. I bought a pair of tails with Bat's vinyl applied by Andy (Bat) himself, and they look OEM and there's no fading/bubbling/ripping whatsoever. Maybe send yours to Andy and pay him a fee to do it for you. :chuckles:

I sprayed my tail lights and they turned out awesome. Its not hard to spray them just make sure you do even strokes. Try and put them beside each other when you do them so they are pretty much the same darkness. Then apply as many coats as you want, but make sure you let them dry for at least a couple of hours and then apply a clear coat. Then they will get a nice shine to them. You prolly want to let them try overnight just because of so many coats you put on. Its really simple and if you mess one up by touching it when its still when you can just remove the paint with gasoline(it works good) i had to redo mine. All you do is wet a cloth with the gas and rub the tail light and it just comes right off.

yea. its definetly a tricky task. my tail-lights were realatively easy. just tough to get them around the corners without the vinyl bunching up.

Yeah the whole wrapping part is the thing that got me. I'm probably just going to do nightshades soon ;)
