Really big Long Island meet

Im making new thread so people know what's going on.

I'm working out the date with T2000 gt-s and a place to meet.
will try to keep it close to the 495 and near the city.


Let's get a head count and some ideas on what to do. I don't want to sit in a parking lot all day.

Where are we gonna stay?...if us MA peeps are comin down, it's a good 4 hr drive...and I don't really want to make an 8hr round trip in one day........

I think LI is a great idea cause the ma peeps can come down and maybe (just maybe) the DCM peeps can come up... either way you should be able to find very affordable hotels in the area... And whatever you do... DONT GO if theres no plan... at freehold the guys ended up eating and then we went to an abandoned army base for a while...a cop came but that turned up to be even more interesting than the burnouts... and the meet lasted a good 7 hours. I'm definately down.. Finally got my car yesterday.. YEAh...

alright, i say the base/gathering point should be top deck of parking garage @ Roosevelt Field Mall...SilverBullet scouted it out the other day and it's just as empty as ever nowadays. plus it's a bigass mall, you can do a zillion things there, and it's right off the highway and we can go do whatever from there :D

top of parking garage near nordstrom's/macy's at Roosevelt Field Mall, afternoon time....

take northern state to exit 32 (or is it 31? one of those, the one for meadowbrook parkway). merge onto the meadowbrook. it's the 2nd or 3rd exit (they number the exits all ghey), they have a sign 'shopping mall' for the exit.

whatever happened to enzima? (that whackjob w/ohio plates). that guy was cool :D his audio system was voice activated and he did that crazy 180 a few feet from the wall of the roof.

Umm those directions were a little off. For people coming in from the city they might want to look for the Grand Central(not the northern state) haha. anyway, take the GC all the way, it will split to the northern state and the meadowbrook. Take the Meadowbrook and its a few exits to the mall. I think it says mall exit. Either way its the one after Old country rd.

However if i was coming from Jersey i would get on the belt, take it all the way to the southern state. Take the southern state to the meadowbrook Pkwy(north). Take that too the mall exit, right after Zekendorf blvd.(spelling) This is the same exit as the above directions just coming from the opposite direction.

By the way, wont be there on the 15th! Will probably take off for the big one tho.(if i even have too)

BTW, can everyone who's coming try to be there by 2pm? (like arrive between 1-2?)...we'll only end up having 2.5 hours of daylight, but that's better than everyone getting there at 3-4 and it getting dark soon after.

2pm is fine, but I'm not sure about that track. Some of us are coming from DC/Maryland and thats a far drive as it is. I'm not sure how I feel for more driving! And someone please post some really good directions. The mall website has directions, but they only make sense to some that lives around there. How about some directions from the Jersey Turnpike? :p

Don't worry about the digicam! :) I just got a Sony DSC-S75 a couple of weeks ago. I can store 250 pix (1600x1200) or 26 minutes of video (320x240, 8fps, +sound) on my 128MB Memory Stick. Can't wait! :D

Sorry I wan't there guys. :( I got completely lost. :o I couldn't find the exit for the Belt Parkway on 278, and I wound up in Manhattan. Took me forever to get home. :(

My EZ Pass didnt't work, either (just got it this week), and I got stuck sitting at an EZ Pass-only tollboth (the one that keeps that bar down till you pay) for five minutes until one of the tollboth guys took my EZ Pass and smacked it around a bit.

bah. events of day:

1:00 - some guy (ben?) in white integra ls shows up. has parts from his sold celica he wants to get rid off.

1:20 - imouse shows up...lot's full...leaves

1:30 - i show up. park. LS dude shows up and shows me his parts and some VCDs (btw, i wanna buy some later ;)). he's from queens. he leaves, i stand around near entrance waiting.

2:15ish - TRDStreetRacing in white GTS 6spd shows up, i catch him. and we stand around with cars near entrance (next to a third GTS, black, but not one of ours) of roof of parking garage (plan being if anyone else showed up to move meet to empty outlying lots) and wait for 45 min. or so. lives nearby and has to go to work. (btw, if you're free this sat/sun, lemme know, i'll keep an eye on weather conditions/track)

3:15 - kuruptgt from allentown pennsylvania shows up with his girl. talk a bit. he goes inside to mall. i stay in front of entrance for about an hour.

4:15 - leave a note telling kuruptgt (mike i think it was) that meet was a bust and was gettin ready to leave. nd4spd stops by and i let him know the bad news.

a couple of celicas showed up, but they were normal people and just stared.

on my way home, i ran into a SC430 meet in the highway which i promptly proceeded to disrupt it by cutting in and between them and gunning it repeatedly. some were amused. some were not.

then a VR4 tailgates me in traffic at 100mph all the way to my exit. then he cuts around me (mind you, we're at 110 right now) and takes the exit. i caught him in there cuz i braked late. but the ****er drifted through the second half of the turn. he was sideways with smoke from his rear tires.

Sorry to hear you got lost Blue Bomber :eek: That musta sucked big-time. We'll have better directions not time (there's a longer route, but it's easier to manage). Also sorry to kurupt for driving all the way out here to no meet. If you guys don't wanna come to the next meet on Jan 4/5, it's understandable cuz you already made the trip. also to iMouse cuz he got there on time but i was 10 min behind him.

MORAL OF THE DAY: we need cell phones. mine wasn't working, and nd4spd's number changed. plus we didn't have the #s of anyone else who was gonna come.

also, next time the meet is not gonna be on the parking garage. i wanted to meet there and move to a bigger lot, but that looks to be a bit too much so we're gonna try to get better directions around the mall to one of the empty outlying lots (there were lots).

SO. here's the procedure for jan 4/5 meet. whoever is a DEFINITE. list your cell #, and real name. obviously, not now, but we'd like to get a list started by that week sometime. we will have detailed directions to mall (written by us) and around the mall to the proper lot (as soon as we decide which lot is best). a few people have said they'd take the day off already. good. i say we start it same time. but this time everyone try to get there before 2pm.

Let's start getting the details sorted out cuz this has to be a good meet. By the way i dont see how that spot was hard to find. Getting lost in the city is one thing but once your on LI and you make it to the exit all you have to do is drive straight for about 5 seconds. The garage is right in front of you, you can even see it from the parkway.

it actually wasn't...just the parking garage was. there were quite a few giant completely empty parking lots around the place.

and the mall's still better for an all-day meet cuz tons more to do than @ nassau comunity :p

I still think the mall is the best spot for a meet. Finding the exact spot at nassau is gonna be harder for people to find than the mall. I'll go along with any plans but thats my opinion. :) T2000 is right, there is more to do in the mall area and there are plenty of huge empty lots to use, not to mention that the ones im thinking he means are completely visible from the road once you take the exit. For people who dont know, there are smaller outterlaying parking lots(sorta like little islands) inbetween the roads inside the mall area. Very visible if we meet there, even if you end up driving around the mall lost you will have to eventually see us. bla bla bla anyway lets get the facts set so we can stop worrying about it. We know when!(Jan. 5, 2:00) So where?

Meeting at the College is easier. ASking outertowners to find the entrances to the perimeter lots and make the quick turn begs for people to be rear ended.

Everyone can habd out at the college for an hour, then head to the mall. Its easeir to move en mass, than to have everone trickle in and risk ruining the experience.

hell, if alot of people want to stick around, we can head over to Jillian's(fun/games) and spend the evening there.

The parking at the Mall will still be bad on the fifth. As a group we will be harder to seperate onc we have all met each other. The College lot minimizes this for the NJ peeps.

Hey guys the lot wasnt full until about 12:30 I got there at 10 30 am to take the kids shopping (ammir do you remember seeing a big green van coming down the ramp as you were about to come up the ramp to the roof. This Jan5th should be a good one. We have MA peeps (about 4-6people)...DC peeps...NJ peeps....NY peeps......CT peeps......

and everyone has to post their cell numbers. I've learned from previous meets. Cell numbers...and if anyone has two way radios...bring them.

At all of my CT/MA meets (20+ cars), we've all had two ways...so none of us get lost during cruises......if anyone gets caught at a red light, the rest of us know and will pull over.....etc etc...two way radios and cell phones are key for a big meet.

Anyway, can't wait to meet all you crazy fools in Jan.

Well, there is a parking lot in the rear with lot of lighting and you guys could park there. There are plenty of places to eat in Nanuet.

In any case, good luck with your meet. I've been meaning to come out before, just to check out some Celica's, but last time I came on the wrong day, and another time, there was one Celica there (NJ) so I just left.

Roosevelt Field, Source Mall(Jillians), Nassau CC, Eisenhower Park(This may be the best choice being that it will be daytime therefore open and it is winter so it will be empty)??? Pick pllllllease! It's not that far away now. By the way all these spots are in the same general area so its easy.

Those coming from NJ in stead of North of the city should take the Brooklyn-Queens Expwy I287 to the Long Island Expressway I495.

Do NOT take the Belt Pkwy. U will sit in traffic for at least 45 minutes just after the Nostrand Ave exit.

Bring a map just in case, but avaoid the South Shore in Brooklyn unless u plan to use Kings Highway.

if u want us to avoid the belt wouldnt it be better taking the gw bridge.. to the cross bronx --> to northern state ----> lie....

i grewup in queens..... i might just take my chances with gothals and verrazzano...

also ppl from nj remember u have to pay tolls on 2 bridges... it will be smarter to take the gw bridge home because there is no fee when leaving the city


so, what are the directions coming from nj?

and for the intake a socket kit and some screwdrivers would suffice?

and if u all want ill include some munchies.. some pasteries.. maybe some doritos or other stuff we can all snack on while we meet up?

NJ people.. meet by a mall close to the GWB.. Garden State Plaza (intersection of Route 4 & 17) would be a pretty good place.

I would go, but I dont see the point in going to a Northeast meet where I have to pay two tolls to get to. Honestly, couldn't this be outside Long Island? Bah.. whatever.. it's already set. I may drop by just to see all the pretty Celica's.

Us MD folks are meeting up with the Jersey people around 11:00 -11:30 (that's the time we should get there). There is a big mall at exit 13 on the Jersey turnpike. We are meeting in the back in front of the Movie Theaters.

Yes, well it would be $9.50 less if you didnt have to go to Long Island. GWB or Lincoln Tunnel will be $6, and the Whitestone or Triboro will be another $3.50.. then on your way home, it's another $3.50 for Whitestone or Triboro.. luckily, no toll at the Hudson River crossings on the return trip.

I hope you have EZ-Pass or something.. otherwise, get ready to wait to pay toll.

Lastly what happened to N4Spd4gts's car? Last I heard, it was screwed up by one Toyota dealer, etc etc.. has it been fixed, and fixed new?

the meet is in the triangle lot right behind the parking garage (opposite corner from the stores) for nordstrom's/macy's. it's a valet lot, so we might get forced to move, but i have found a bunch of other big nice empty lots to move to later if the need arises. but this one is cool. be careful, there's only one or two entrances and the rest is curbed off, but it's open. so don't run over the curb or anything.

look for the silver celica and a brown 80's corolla. i will be there around 11:30 waiting for you guys.

ANYONE BACKS OUT, WE WILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND DO HORRIBLE THINGS TO YOUR CELICA

I really wasn't sure what kind of reception I would receive, and was amazed at the total class that was shown by all of you!
