I'm trying to get into photography myself (not starting with a DSLR yet, figured i'd start with a Bridge Digital Camera/Ultrazoom (Panasonic FZ28)...going to practice with it and get to know how to get better at choosing what apertures for what shots and what not. 1st picture isn't bad. just gotta work on the lighting a bit imo. because it looks like the baby has bags under the eyes. but then again, its due to lighting and such. you can try to shoot when there's sun out but in the shade. just shoot at like 100 f4 or f5 and you should get something okay. and shoot at 100 iso.

2nd picture is nice. it's really cute. maybe back up a bit more because it looks like you were way too close. because (i think) you were trying to get focus on both babies not just one. but because it's so close, you can only look at one at a time without using your peripheral vision. i like the soft touch to the picture though.

overall, nice work!

i wanted to keep the aperture kind of low because i wanted to make sure he was in focus since i was using my uwa lens for the first pic.

As for the 2nd picture, i intentionally took it up close w/ the macro feature on my 28-105mm lens to get details of their faces. If i backed up more then i would've had seen stuff in the background that i didn't want.

What mode are you shooting in? And looking at some of the previous pictures it does look like your lens needs cleaning, are you using filters? try cleaning the filters. Hopefully it's not inside the lens itself :ugh:

If you're talking about the small circle looking blemishes on the photo, those are actually caused by specs of dust on the sensor.

The reason I say lens is because I have the same issue when shooting with my wide angle:marky: but when I have my 28-135mm there is no spots (that I can see) so I believe my WA has dust but now that you mention it, I'll have to take a closer look at my shots from the 28-135 to see if it is my sensor...

I use LR to remove spots all the time and I never get that kind of results, are you moving it around and playing with it so that the spots blend in?

Set your focus to infinity, and shoot against something uniform such as poster board or a blue sky with a small aperture like f/16. This will reveal any dust that you might have on your sensor.

That looks like a pretty wide aperture. What were your settings? I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts if you close your 50mm down to f/16 or even smaller you'll see dust spots.
