Ok, this left off in the 2003 HID topic, TWO people saw this in the service guide for 2003.
Yellow for USA. And something to replace Spectra Blue Mica (either a new name, or new color all together).
Please, enlighten us!

Yeah, I would like information on this as well. Why they would even think of getting rid of Spectra Blue, I have no idea. I say this because my dealership says that they sell the most vehicles in that color.
Try asking the question(s) in the original thread instead of starting new ones everytime you have a question relating to the 2003 options.

I started a new thred because it's a different topic. The title of the post was 2003 to get HIDS or something. The post was also getting pushed to the bottom of the list.
How is someone supposed to know that the 2003 HID post also talks about new colors? They don't.
So as new information becomes available, it should be posted in topics.
Thank you

I agree with CelicaDetective... why do people bitch so much about what goes where and how threads go in these forums... I think 75% of conversation is actually on topic the other 25% are people complaining about who posted what where and why.
If they are doing away with Spec Blue, I will be very disappointed. I am hopefully getting a 2003. I like yellow, but I don't think it's for me. I would think they would do away with carbon blue first, cause carbon blue sucks.
How come there is NO available info on 2003 Celicas? 2003 Corollas are out aren't they? 03 Eclipses have been for awhile... I call Go Toyota and Customer Assistance and nobody knows ANYTHING about the 03 Celica.

Apparently nothing dramatic is gonna happen with the Celica.

You sure it's the Spec Blue that's getting changed? I would think if anything was changed it would be the Carbon Blue, really looks like black until you get up close.

Well, this is one of two posts which the exact subject material can be found in a third post. Why do you think relevant posts get pushed to the bottom? One major reason is because of members like yourself that choose to post new threads rather than replies. So the thread got slightly off subject, and info was revealed that wasn't in the subject line. Welcome to just about every single thread on the board.
Tony,
If the rules of the board were followed, we wouldn't need to police the forum. There would be no need for moderators. Static has his hands full moving posts every five minutes that belong in other forums. If people would post in the right threads/forums rather than where they can get the most attention, I highly doubt that regulation by moderators would be one of your concerns.
On subject... I hope they get rid of Spec blue, as this would bring the 2% spec blue Celica ratio even lower and the demand for them higher. However I doubt I will ever consider selling my car to take advantage of that if it did happen. If they do replace the paint, I could care less about the color and more about the quality sprayed on the hoods for future Celi owners' sake. Mine is chipped to hell little highway driving.

Whats the deal with the GTS eclipse? Oh.... GT-Spyder I saw one actually. It said GTS on the back and I was like WTF?
Well let see, carbon blue... everyone thinks it's black, it's always dirty, you can hardly ever see the blue (Pontiac, Corvette and VW's midnight blue is much better), and the quality sucks. The clear is horrible, bugs eat thru it in about 10 minutes, I have fish eyes all over my car, what else can I say?
What is Taupe?

tell me my car sux.............the only carbon blue in the gallery
that was the whole idea of the color selection IMHO ...something subtle, but exotic.....it's actually a tri-coat.(pretty DARN sure, not 100% though). I think it's the hottest color they have out ....it fools everybody, black until light hits it, then you're like, "whoa, well THAT'S cool"...that's what did it for me at the dealer's lot..
don't knock it because you aint got it fellaz.....
again, this is MY opinion, but i'm not crazy about any of the other colors....if not carbon blue, I'd go custom colors.........
This response wasn't meant to be flammatory in nature....hehe..but I know I'm gonna hear it.....

well the deal with the spec blu color is that it is a specialty color for toyota in 2000 and 2001 ..there were something like only a few thousand celicas made with spectra blue in the year 2000 and 2001 ..thats why nobody saw alot of these colors..i know when i first got mine people were askin me if that we a stock color or not...nobody knew what ti was..now in 2002 they made alot more of them and i got pissed becasue it was no longer a rare color becasue everybody started to get it....now i hope that they discontinue it because then it will again start to becoem a rare color again which will in time casue all spec blue colored celicas gain a little bit of value....(that is celicas that have the origional factory paint) so dont go tryin to change your silver or red celi into spec blue now..j/k
well thats some info that i heard from my sponsor/body shop guys..and toyota themselves cause they deal right with toyota and toyotas uses dupont paint which is again another one of my sponsors through the body shop..

I think that's a hoopla of BS. I've seen tons of 2000 2001 Spec Blue Celicas mostly GTs but a GTS rarely. If it was a special color it wouldn't be in the brochure!
Yes the carbon blue is a tri-coat btw...

ummm no its not BS u see more other colors that u see spec blue....specialty colors are on borchures becasue they want them to be seen....its just how hard it is to find them....every car company has its own color that they make very few of..again my friend has a rav 4 and hs is like this purpple blue color...i dont know what its called but they made 5% of all rav 4's of the last gen rav 4 that is in that color....but how are u defintely certain that all thse spec blues were 2000 and 2001.....i mean i saw a few but definitely not as many spec blues as i saw reds and blacks.. and silver celicas...i wouldnt make something up sabout this sh!t..that wojuld just be gay...its what i heard from dupont directly...and i think they know what they arew tlakin about since the spec blue is also one of the most expensive colors besides carbon blue out on the tooyta line..maybe that isd why theya re dicontinuing it also...spec blue is 2 times more expensive as the red or balck they use...

Let me state a few facts fellas.
I worked for Toyota when I special ordered my 6 speed spec blue from Japan. At the time, it was the first year out. The paint numbers for 2000 and 2001 were the same, however I do not know about 2002. Spectra blue only made 2% of all Celicas made in the two years. Carbon blue was 3%. Just to get perspective, silver made up 40% of the Celica market those years. So yes, Spectra Blue and Carbon blue are both very rare. Now, even with the rarity, it is possible that different regions % recieved of those colors may be different. I know that in our Kansas City region, we recieved a heck of a lot of Carbon blues. You would think the number would be about 15-20 percent. In Omaha, I was one of 6 Spectra blues received in both years. I don't know about 03, but I very rarely see any in the city in SB, and I know all the owners. Only two are GT-S and the other is in Lincoln.

Yeah there are TONS of carbon blue celicas around here too... so maybe you ghostface and gtsnut are correct. I am in the Southeast Toyota region. Maybe we just get more here. I still see a lot of white, red and especially silver celicas as well.

black seems to be the predominant color up in my area...black and silver actually. And yes, I investigate the REAL color (black vs CB) before i make final assessment on a car's color

I got a 2000 SBM and I see other SBMs on the road as much as or more than other colors here
The 2% that GTSnut saw must have been dumped in the Midsouth, coz they're everywhere, and not just starting with the 2002 model. Maybe they were counting on the UK fan contingent
The color I see the least? Black
Lucky Sam
06-28-2002, 06:32 AM
yeah, here in Savannah,GA ive seen 2 other spec blues besides mine
compared to only 1 red, 1 silver, and 2 black. Savannah is not that big so i think peabody is right about the spec blues being dumped in the south
Oh yea, and there are still two spec blues on the Savannah toyota lot too

Black is the rarest color here as well.

i see TONS of silver, a lot of white, and barely any carb blue or black or spec blue at all..
Yeah, every region will have a rarity or two. The midwest will see a lot of silver and whites, because of the amount of snow and salt during the winter, most customers like colors that hide dirt well. So they sell better here. But that still threw me for a loop with all the carbon blues we got. Red and Spec Blue are the rarest colors I've actually seen on the road. But the numbers in the region, well that's a different figure.
