I've been told to paint it with caliper paint and then paint my caliper too probably gonna do black and blue for the caliper. I'm assuming i should sand off the rust? When it comes to painting it do i need to prime it? Or should i use that adhesive assistor or whatever its called? I want the paint to last so i dont have to do this again in a month LOL! Need some advise here guys.

yeah the rusty rotors sucked when i upgraded to 18" wheels. I ended up just buying some nice slotted rotors

I got brake rotors from R1Concepts and they do some kind of coating (I think it was zinc? :shrugs: ) on the rotors.

I've had them for like over half a year and there's no rust on them.

.

especially if you are going with big rims. it will likely look empty behind those big wheels.

soak them in vinegar for a day, it'll get rid of all the rust. then paint them bad boys

to be advised

i did a quick paint over them. Took me less than half an hour.
its just black paint without any sanding or primer.

Still looks good after 7 months.

I'd skip the rims and get the slotted rotors on all 4 imo. Though i like the sleeper look better than any other. On the other hand i have seen some really sexy rims that i can't wait to come down in price (if they ever do) that i like to get my hands on. Mind you, having ok rims and a decent looking set of slotted rotors is noticable in a good way, stock rotors on decent set of rims... not so much.

Performance>aesthetics (but that's not why i chose a celica..)

Raybestos makes stock rotors painted black where they rust,

spend a little time and money. just clean them up good with sanding 220 grit to 400 , use a good degresser and then spray with a good can of HIGH TEMP spay paint. no need to use primer, or a promoter, or a clear coat. HIGH TEMP paint Will be better in a place where the temp droppers and rises quickly and there is alot of weather abuse...

Paint these little bits of the drum red! It will look sick! Do it now.

I think it looks bad when people paint the rotors. But the calpipers look nice.

Sorry for the noob-ish question, but if I painted my rotors, is it okay to paint the surface of the disks (where the caliper's grip) as well, or will that affect brake performance?

........ seriously?

The friction from the pads will wear the paint off in 4 seconds. it'll smell horrible for a while too. Just mask it off or buy stainless if you have the $$$$$$
