My tein s-techs just arrived and i have a few questions on the install, im installing them as soon as i get a warm day. I have been reading all the forums and am ready to install once i get these questions answered. Thanks for helping me out

1. What is the easiest way to take the stock springs off the strut/shock once the whole assemblies are out of the car? I don't have a spring compressor and was wondering what the easiest way to do this without one was? i also understand there is a safety factor associated with this so what would be the easiest/safest way to do this?

2. Do i need an impact wrench to do this install correctly? I have a metric socket set and tourqe wrench(if neccesary).

3. I could not find any info in forums about proper tourqing on bolts/nuts that need to be taken off to get the shock/strut assembly out? Does it matter or does each bolt and nut have specific tourqing requirements when re-installing with the new s-techs on? If they do does anyone have this info or know where i can find it?

Where in KY are you?

You don't need a spring compressor per say, but it will help immensely, you can just step on one end of the strut and have the end with the nut/ratchet held firmly against something that wont move, I used a 4x4 and my garage wall.

It will pop off pretty good but if your holding it tight won't go anywhere.

Now getting the new springs on without a compressor can be tricky.

You don't need am impact, but again it helps.

As for torque specs, I've always just PFT'ed the suspension bolts (pretty freaking tight)

Yeah it's gonna be a bitch man i jus did mine in my suspensions class pretty easy with all the tools at your hand but if you dont man its a pain. The rear cause the most problems because of the control arm being in the way. As for not using a spring compressor do your self a favor and go rent one at Autozone its like $30 and once your done you get your money back.;)

If you take the rear strut/springs apart before trying to remove it, it comes out much much easier.

thats tru cuz they have an outer lip that makes it hard to pull out with the suspension arm still there.

see if there's an auto store around that lends out tools. I know autozone down here lends out spring compressors.

so, still no word on the tq specs? I have s-techs with new shocks in the garage waiting to go on as well on a warm day.
