Guys,

Sorry about flogging a dead horse, but I am still on the search for new tyres for my standard 16" rims.

I'm looking for 205/50/16 tyres with at least Z speed rating and good grip. Would like tyres that are good in the rain, but snow is not an issue (I'm in Australia).

Now, I've heard a lot of people talking about how good the grip of the Azenis are. Are these the Azenis RS Sport or the Azenis ST115? The RS seem very "track oriented" - has anyone used them as road tyres on a Celica?

Are the ST115's as good as the GRBeta FK451's in terms of grip?

I really want Bridgestone S-03's but apparently they won't be available in 205/50/16 in Australia.

I also considered Kumho 712's but from what I have heard, they do not have the grip that I am after - great grip is my highest priority.

Also considering the Pirelli PZero Nero's, but these may be a little too expensive.

I have had the standard Yokohama A520's and the FAlken Ziex 329's. I want grip AT LEAST as good as the Yokos and will not settle for anything that isn't MILES better than the Ziex.

Any thoughts?

Sasha - which Falken offers the best grip?

the RS's have the best grip but don't expect to get the milage of the 329s. People have used them on the road but they will wear quicker than other street tires.

If you want more grip then stay away from the 712, granted it's a good tire over all but lacks grip compared to the stockers.

I have heard good things about the sumitomos mentioned in other threads.

I would reccomend the s0-3 but yeah you covered that.

It sounds like your going to end up spending some change if you want good grip and mileage so you might start saving up for the Pzeros or look into some michilen piolets or the dunlop 9000.

The Toyo dealer told me that the T1-S is being phased out because they were overpriced. He said they are being replaced with TPG's but the list price on them was too cheap for them to be any good. They were about A$50 cheaper per tyre!

What's the story with Azenis St115 and GRBeta FK451? Anyone tried them?

Anyone... Anyone.... Bueller... Bueller....

Azenis kick but. I have tried the Pzeros, asymet. They are great in the rain and fairly quiet, but they don't have the dry grip that the Azenis do. I have also tried the 520's which are good, but the Azenis don't make as much noise and have as much grip if not more than the 520's. I also think the Azenis last me longer than the 520's but that may have also been the difference in alignment, and me leaning to not push into corners while autocrossing. :)

Haven't tried toyos, tried the 712's for a week or so, I have a set that I will sell for cheap. 712's are great in the rain, quiet on the road, but not even close on dry pavement grip to the Azenis.

Conehugger,

Are you talking about the Azenis RS Sport or the Azenis ST115? I have heard some good reports on the ST115, but not from anyone with Celica. If the grip is better than the A520's then that is good enough for me!

Same with the FK451 - heard good reports, but not on Celica.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions about the 712's.

Azenis Sport, I haven't tried the ST115.
