View Full Version : Harrassment from a State Trooper

Last night, I decide to cruise around my little freakin town for a bit with my friend Nick. He has a 2001 Eclipse GT and I have my 2002 Celica GT. We decide to park in the middle of town and just hang out for a bit. I have my friend Sarah in my car and Nick decides to go pick up another one of our friends from her house just outside of town. I wasn't even sitting there 2 minutes and two cops drive by. The first one was a local cop and he didn't do anything because he knows my car and sees me cruising around all the time. About a minute later a state trooper goes driving by. As soon as he passed my car, he slammed on his brakes and spun the car around. He came flying up next to me and shined his light right into my window. He's seriously 5 feet away from my car, drivers door facing drivers door if you know what I mean, shining this huge spotlight into my face. To make a long story short, he starts feeding me all this bs and asks me all these stupid questions about why we're just sitting there. He actually told me to get out of the car and come sit with him in his car. He said that we looked suspicious. I'll get a picture of the place where I had my car parked just so you can see how "suspicious" I really was. I was in the middle of town about ten feet from the road in an open little parking area. Street lights shining all around and I had my headlights on. Oh yeah, that's totally suspicious. He tells me to get back in my car and drive to the gas station to hang out, and tells me to text my friend Nick and tell him to also drive to the gas station. I wasn't going to cause any trouble with the guy so I did what he said and went to the gas station. The cop rides my butt the whole way there and then flys through the gas station after I park my car. Eventually, my friend arrives and we just take off and cruise for a bit longer before we decide to call it a night. I can't believe he didn't have anything better to do than harrass me about looking suspicious when I clearly wasn't looking suspicious at all. Are they really allowed to harrass people for doing nothing wrong?

We have the same issue here. if the kids or adults who are just sitting in parking lots on the cruising strip to mingle and hang out with friends then they can come up to them and harrase them and tell them to leave because there on, how can i put this, public property but causing a nuesense lol.

he probably thought you had a prostitute in the car. and this was by far not harassment.

Well when your loitering they can come and telll you to leave right away. I usually dont get harassed for it.. but your not supposed to just sit around in your car. Although.. he was a state trooper and he doesnt have the authority to do anything to you in a town. State troopers usually only have jurisdiction on the highways.. although they can be called in for certain ordeals. The fact that the local cop didnt do anything but then he was almost right behind him and started **** it kinda of ridiclous.

I forgot to put this in my first message. While I was driving to the gas station, there was an Alero with his parking lights on tucked back off the road in a very dark lot. The cop didn't even care about him. I understand the whole loitering thing but why would he tell me to go hang out at the gas station when that would also be considered loitering?

On top of that the gas station probably doesn't want you loitering there. I'm sure they'd love to know the cop is making people go hang out in their parking lot.

Dude don't listen to any of these dick bag cop lovers! I would go file a complaint with his internal affairs department. Fuk those punk ass cops, they are always looking for STUPID $hit to harass people for. It's funny cause they always got plenty of time to harass all the LAW ABIDING citizens hence the reason all the criminals never get caught cause cops these days are too fuking stupid to know how to do any REAL police work. Only thing they are good at is handing out traffic tickets! Personally to me it sounded like the cop was some kinda rape-o all trying to get you in his car and $hit.. Sounds like some kinda queer to me!
Also where there any NO LOITERING signs posted at the gas station? If not then even more the reason you had to be chilling there.

its okay one night i was driving home from the local strip with two friends in my car
we were at a paint party at one of the clubs so we were covered in paint.
i had my car like 2-3 under the speed limit on cruise control when i get pulled over he starts being a douche asking why i look like that and asked for ALL our id's and didnt give me a reason as to why i got pulled over. asked where i was going and i told him home it was like 3:30 in the morning. so he was like well get going then. i was soo heated.

It could also be that they were keeping an eye on that place because things might happen there that you don't know about.. or maybe you're car was similar to something they have to keep an eye out for (stolen car, wanted person, etc) ... there is always something on the other side, and if you file a report on him, he will explain to his supervisor just what was going on that night, and it will get thrown out. It doesn't sound like harrasment to me either, because it could be that the town cop was on his way to another call, but the trooper saw that someone was driving by and thought you looked suspecious (about to go race somewhere, drug deal, etc) and wanted someone to check on it. The light on you is to make sure he knows that his safety comes first - if he just rides up on you at night time, street lights or not, he never knows who may be sitting around the corner.

Uhuh. These are people who always piss and moan about the cops for having a heavy hand. Yet when something bad happens to them like their car getting stolen/broken into, they're all "How come a cop wasn't around to do something about it?" or "How come the cop wasn't checking out those supicious people near my car?". Everyone hates the cops until they need one to help them.
It's funny, how if they do too much then they're pigs abusing their power harassing the innocent. If they do too little then they're lazy or incompetent. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
The only thing he really did wrong was tail gate you. That's about it. Otherwise it is your word againist his. You know the situation better than we do. If you believe that you were the victim of harrassment you should report the issue immediatly.

BWAHAHA dude are you fukin kidding me? I don't EVER call the cops for anything! I try to avoid their worthless asses at ALL COSTS! If my car got stolen the diksuckin ass cops are the LAST people I would bother calling. WTF are they gonna make a lousy report and call me when they find it stripped down on the side of the road somewhere? Hell yeah man sweet detective work
There are probably only 4% good cops these days and 96% dumb fuk douche bag cops. Your average "COP" is nothing but a worthless ticket writing piece of $hit. They don't do any REAL detective work. They write tickets, get calls to go to domestic disputes and other worthless $hit. Not like they are actually out there cleaning up the streets getting rid of all the fukin murders rapists and child molesters!
It's like I always said...
LAWS = Legally Approved Ways to Steal!
They got all these gay ass worthless LAWS just to have a reason to write you a ticket for something so that they can make money off you. If more people would actually not be so ignorant of the system and just take their tickets to court rather than just cop-out and pay it, they would soon realize that the system is NOT that hard to beat. People need to realize they need to man up and FIGHT their tickets, take that $hit to the box and MAKE them fukin courts do their job. Most would soon realize that the court doesn't like being bothered with those kinda people and are more willing to reduce the charges if not dismiss them altogether.

ok seriously.. you have got to be ****ing kidding me dude... how many cops keep the drug dealers off the street, and the prowlers, and sex offenders to keep you and your family and future safe? how can you bash them and look like a total idiot doing so?? LAWS are in place to keep you SAFE.. if you cant follow them then by all means, break them, that just keeps me in a job; job security ftw. So first you say the cops in America are only after your money, and then you say the system is incredibly easy to beat. One would think if they were as corrupt as you say and only after your money, they'd probably do a better job of taking it from you in court? This argument makes no sense.
And you have no idea about power abuse of police officials until you've lived in another country. Go live in Russia, China, Japan or Mexico and then try to pull this "I hate cops" teenage angst and see how quickly you get a night stick beat down and enema. You'll be crying to come back to America where you can argue with cops without getting your skull cracked or your nose broken.
America has some of the most if not the most liberal police officers in the world. We are one of the few countries where citizens can actually contest tickets, arrests, and have a fair trail in court. American cops are strickly regulated and are constantly under scrutiny and critisizm. The only people who have this "I hate cops" attitude are just ignorant punk kids who have never been oppressed before in their life and have nothing better to do than to make trouble to the very people who keep them safe. They walk all over mommy and daddy and are shocked when they realize other adults, especially unfiormed ones, do not have to put up with their crap the way their parents do.
I'm sorry if your little miopic world view makes you think that somehow you are victimized by the American police department. Maybe you'll grow up one day and see the world is much bigger than your narrow perspective. Travel. See some things. Maybe then you'll see how lucky you are to live in America.

i live in a small town as well, and the head police officer harassed me constantly. pulled me over 3 days in a row because i didnt have my currect registragion. took me to jail after doing an illegal search of my vehicle and finding a knife that had a blade that was 3.75 inches long (legal limit in texas is 4 inches, he took the knife and said he 'lost' the evidence). he also used to pull me over, saying my license plate lights were out. when i get to the local gas station, what do ya know, they're working just fine. so i did what i always do, i called the lawyer and filed harassment charges. he pulled me over one more time, saying i looked suspicious in the parking lot... nevermind it was the parking lot of the shop i work at. so i got him off duty, got up really close to him, and said one thing. "you arent going to be a cop forever". he looked at me like i was joking. he hasnt pulled me over since then though

I already succeeded at looking like a fuktard? LOL by who by a buncha tree huggin cop lovers that I wouldn't give two $hits about in real life much less on the internet? What you think I care about your friendship or something? Like I'm not gonna be able to sleep at night cause some cop loving homo on some celica forum didn't like what I said? hahaha dude it's people like you who never amount to anything in life cause your always too busy doing what you think other people want you to do. Too busy doing what the system wants you to do. You must be a pig or some kinda flashlight cop which is why your defending this so hard. You can defend yourself all you want but the truth hurts! Also I already said that it was the DETECTIVES that actually do real work not the lame dick cops that roam the streets and hand out traffic tickets for gay $hit.

No your the pusy cry baby who is obviously doesn't give a $hit about his rights. It's people like you and the rest of you dick bags who all act like it's not a big deal when cops do crooked $hit and fuk with people for no fukin reason. Who gives a fuk if dude wanted to kick it on a PUBLIC ROAD and wait for his buddy? Oh some cop has the right to come harass him for whatever reason? Oh wait lemme guess "Maybe he looked suspicious", please define how he looked suspicious enough for a cop to roll on him like he did! Also if he looked THAT SUSPICIOUS then the stupid fukbag cop would have called for backup. But no the cop wanted to be the lame dickbag that he is and go harass innocent people when there are plenty of actual criminals out there that need to be harassed.

Actually. . i dont give a **** about your friendship, or even trying to sound "like a hardass" on the internet, i just wish people we're so ignorant to the fact that its a cops job to make sure the city, town, county, is safe .. just as much as it is your job to flip burgers at mcdonalds.

It's no surprise your defensiveness, I called that right from the start. What kind of a cop are you anyways? I bet your probably not even a traffic cop, not like that's saying much anyways but I bet you probably just work at the jail or some $hit. Either way you cops are all the same, your like a buncha fat people who goto self help groups and tell each other that your special and that everyone else is different. You guys all try to boo each other up so that you can feel like your the ones not doing anything wrong. But you cops are as crooked if not more crooked than the criminals. Cops aren't $hit plain and simple. Now unless your a detective of some sort or a federal agent then are you are is a ticket writing piece of $hit! You punk ass cops break the same fuking laws that you get paid to enforce. I don't know how many fukin times I been driving down the road and seen cops not use their turn signal when turning or changing lanes. I also see you punks driving around your cruisers while off duty. Driving around on MY TAX DOLLARS! You fukin cops ain't nothing but a buncha potato bugs! PERIOD...

Something like that happen to me. I'm driving down a road here in Staten Island. I made a u-turn. I pulled to the side and looked on my rearview mirror and sideview mirror then made the u-turn with the signal light on. All of sudden I hear these siren. See some lights coming from a Yukon. So I pull over to the side. A F***ing PIG on my side. He said "You know why I pulled you over?"? I said "no". He said you made an illegal U-turn. So he ask me for all my papers. I get all these cops. Like three cop cars come to me. One ask to turn off, and on my car. Looks at my tv. Walks away. Another P** walks to my car and says to roll up my windows, sees no tint on my side windows. Walks away. Next P** walks up and says " Why you got pulled over?" I say I don't know. After a few minutes he comes back and says, " The guy who pulled you over was the Officer Patrole men Supervisor. He said you were Reckless driving. So he gave me a summons to go to Criminal court. I got me a lawyer and beat the case. FU****G PIGS. They think can get away with it.

lol funny story to add my friend...
I also live in a small town, local cops here are straight DIIICKS, and alot of the state troopers that troll around are too.
I work as a chef, in our small town hospital, i was already late.. OUT OF MY CAR walking toward the entrance of the hospital when i notice a stater pulls up behind my car and turns his stupid 10000000000000 lights on. So i turn around and he starts yelling at me to come here, he then asks me where i got my window tint done at, i told him idk came with the car ( i did it myself 5% reflective ). He takes my lisence, doesnt even ask for anything else insurance, ect.. he makes me sit at me car on the curb where i parked. He took 20 MINUTES to come back and tell me he doesnt have his tint meter so he gave me a verbal warning and his business card to show that i was stopped for a good reason to be late.... LOL what a prick

LOL! Over here in N.Y. You would have gotten a ticket. They don't believe in warnings. It's all about tickets(meet the qouta). If you get away with it. It's because they just gave you a ticket for one window. Which is $90. Some of these cops would give you a ticket for all the windows. $50 plus surcharge, which is $40 for surcharge.

well you guys might not like to hear this but im all for the cops making random stops like that. if your not doing anything wrong then dont stress. you didnt get no ticket no harm no foul. now if you would have been doin some drugs or drinkin it would have been a good call on his part. you wasnt so you went on your way. I wish everyone thats just parked would get checked. keeps me and my family safe. i was young and use to hit the parking lots gettin checked all the time by cops and same thing as you bitchin wwhen they would screw with me, BUT now i got a family and the amount of people drinkin and doin drugs then driving i dont blame cops by no mean anymore for doing soo.
moral of my story is if your not breaking the law dont stress when one " harrass's you" its for the good of everyone else. one day you will all get a little older and really see the good cops do. well most o fthem anyways lol

^^^^ car is looking sweet miswhite
but as for the cop discussion, the local cops in my area are so corrupt. About half of them are druggies themselves (used to hang out with some guys that sold drugs to the cops and the cops would keep them out of trouble) but all the state boys here are fine. Dont get bothered much at all for exhaust or tint. They do a good job with the speeding tickets and busting the DUIs though

im for cops and all but i think that the system is horribly corrupt especially around here. my dads truck was recently broken into and the tv's stolen he paid 450 out of pocket insurance covered the other 550 but he only got back 200 because ... " the tv's depreciated in value" despite being BRAND new. the kid that broke into it admited to 15 other crimes that night but since they only had his finger print at our house he only got charged with ours. and get this that 200... is paid 10 a month over 2 years.... and if he does it everything is off his record. and will the other people get back there stuff since it was recovered? no...

But... look at it from his point of view. A lot of drug deals do happen by people hanging out in empty lots. For all you know that lot was famous for drug deals happening and they'd been keeping an eye on it.
Anyways...
My .02 cents. There are good and bad cops. And I don't buy the arguement cause other countries have it worse means our cops shouldn't be held to a high standard. It just means those other countries should be better (yeah, ideal world). It's not an excuse to let our cops start getting away with not so horrible stuff.
At the same time, I do find the people who hate cops the most are usually the ones who are doing stuff to get the attention of any cop and probably deserve that attention.
I'm mostly law abiding (I speed a little but at most just a little faster than average speed of traffic) and I hardly ever get any issues. Have gotten one speeding ticket in my life (driving for 16 years now) and I will admit, I deserved it. Though I honestly wish the cop had written me up for what I deserved, an improper lane change (I was annoyed at slow mergers on the highway and skipped across three lanes to get to the clear lane), rather than speeding when I really wasn't doing much above traffic.
But speeding gets more money. I realize that's not the fault of cops that speed limits are set lower than average speed of traffic but politicians who like to see revenue coming in and can fool people into thinking speeding = bad and they are doing something by cutting down on it (but ignoring worse things like running red lights, tailgating, reckless driving). Oh, and when I say speeding, I do mean it by definition, going faster than a set speed limit. I do think one can be going recklessly fast.

obviously everyone has their own opinion about cops and each area is different, but all i have to say is before you go on about how corrupt cops are, and how much they harrass innocent people, just know the whole story, you don't realize how much goes on behind the scenes. i say what miswhite said almost everyday - if you're not doing anything wrong, there's no reason to sweat it, just don't go on a public forum and bitch about it just because you think he was in the wrong to have you go somewhere where there is a witness if anything were to happen.

He probably thought you were going to do drugs. Cops find all excuses to bug people in parked cars. Some are valid, some aren't.
I remember my friend and I took a short cut through a back alley with his car, and two cruisers were parked there as the officers were drinking coffee and having a bagel around 12am. Needless to say, they followed us and pulled us over. I told them I was impressed that they were so dedicated to working even while on break. :D

Well I'm sorry that your (actually spelled YOU'RE) illiterate and don't know what it means. Perhaps if you think of what a potato bug is and how worthless they are and how they serve absolutely NO PURPOSE in life, then maybe it will all become clear.
First off, before you decide to criticize anyone else's literacy, make sure your own spelling and grammar is up to par. What kind of grudge do you carry against the police? You're making your argument sound like you were touched in your special place by them or something. Give us some examples of what they've done to you to make you hate them so much.
But back to the topic...
Police will always do stuff that we don't agree with most of the time because we always feel like we're being victimized or some crap. No offense or anything, but just let it go and get on with your life. It may have been your first confrontation with them in a parking lot, but it's not their first. Most likely they have had worst situations in that same parking lot while you weren't there so don't feel like you're the only one. Same kind of thing happened to me but the cop explained to me that there were quite a few people who park in the area I was parked in at the time. So I knew that they've had several encounters in that area before so I didn't sweat it.
In addition, I've seen first hand in other countries what their law enforcements do to people so we should definitely consider ourselves lucky in some aspect. Basically, you just gotta remember cops are people too. I'll bet there were times when you've seen some pretty suspect things and wanted to know what was going on just like the cop thought you were doing something. I do realize that there are crooked people in law enforcement but hey, s*** happens.

Police can profile it saves lives at times. If you have nothing to hide then it's just an in-convince you'll have to live with.

i dont think anyone is saying that we hate aLL cops, i think its that there are some who decide they can do whatever they want and get away with it because they are the'boys in blue'. im all for law enforcement, not for corruption. like i stated, i went to jail because of an illegal search of my car. when he found a pocket knife 1/4 of an inch below legal limit, he arrested me and then 'lost' he knife. i still respect cops, i just hate the ones who were the ******* jocks in high school and feel like they have something to prove

Dude you don't gotta explain anything. You were just another obvious VICTIM of dikbag cops who think they can push people around. That's how they roll. They are always trying to trick people into doing and saying things just so they can work up a conviction. It's just like when you get pulled over for speeding and they sit there and ask you "do you know why I pulled you over"? Most people usually flush their entire chance of beating the ticket right there at that point. You should be asking THEM why they pulled you over, and then DENY DENY DENY! Take that $hit to court and beat that fukin charge. Otherwise when you start talking cops will find a way to TWIST your words around in your favor making you look like some kinda criminal.

come on cops got to check out stuff like that for druggs hoes and drunks. now if a cop would have gotten the drunk driver that hit your buddys wife. you wouldnt be on here sayin man what a good jobs cops do. he could have done way worst to that kid in the parking lot. all he did was say dont hang out here go to the gas station probbly becuase its well lit and less likely for him to get robbed or be doing anything bad. just my 2 cents
See that's just the attitude cops want simple minded people to have. It's obvious that you have never heard of "Internal Affairs", but it's a department that handles these kinda things not to mention that complaints get filed in a cops record. So somewhere down the line if two or three people file a complaint about the same type of behavior for the same cop, hows that gonna look?
But it's pointless trying to explain things like this to people who are soft and let people roll over on them. It's no wonder why so many idiots get scammed these days.

I think we should just impose martial law. I swear I'll keep the streets safe :gap:.
Anything that moves is illegal and is to be terminated.

Well consider yourself lucky then :) I have lived in a few different states including Utah, Vegas, and South Florida and I would say Vegas is the most kick back and cops there are actually out doing real cop work. Florida is pretty much the same but they have a few bored ass cops that roam the streets. Utah is by far the worst! They probably have about 12 different police jurisdictions within a 50 mile radius. It's all about money money money there. It's seriously probably one of the worst states to live in. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to live there.

one time I got a parking ticket for parking in front of my own house! Apparently I parked too close to a fire hydrant. The law where I live is 3 feet away. I measured the distance my car was from the hydrant and it was a little more than 3 feet. I thought about fighting it but how was I going to prove my word was right over the cops? It was just a $20 ticket. But come on, what kinda cop has nothing better to do than wander down my street (it's pretty hidden away from the main part of the city) and give me a stupid little ticket? I've spoken with some of my city's cops and they seem pretty straight, I dunno what that was all about.

See now that's the kinda $hit I'm talking about, it's a fuked up situation. It's like even when your not doing something wrong, some dikbag comes along and looks for ANYTHING to fuk your day up giving you a ticket over some STUPID fuking $hit.
This dude in New York goes around filming cops that do fuked up $hit. The same kinda $hit that they ticket people for he catches them doing the EXACT SAME $HIT and gets it all on tape... Check this dude out, $hits fuking HILARIOUS!

with all due respect, that is their job...
you have no idea why the trooper did what he did, there may have been a crime that had just occurred with a vehicle matching your description, maybe the gas station you had been sitting at has been robbed 4 times in the past month, he was doing police work, and if that involves inconveniencing the public every now and then, it happens.
you may think he has nothing better to do, but really you have no idea. there are many situations that don't make the news/newspapers, many issues that are not made public, and are not supposed to be public knowledge but at least he is out on the road doing his job and not sitting in a donut shop or sitting on station..
some day, if you are ever the victim of a serious crime, you may see how smart, organized, and dedicated they are to helping you, regardless of your opinion on them.

LOL... Reminds me of what just happened the other night... a cop happened to give me a parking violation for no front plate in the middle of nowhere... the no plate thing was news to me, because when I got back to my car, my plate was still attached... Some cops are just lazy asshats, some go out of their way to f&ck with you, and a rare few are not corrupt these day. If your only tool is a hammer, you see every potential problem as a nail.

OMG the whole front plate thing is sooo fukin dumb! What's even dumber is that is states like Florida they don't even have front plates. The DMV gives you one plate. So it amazes me why it's "LEGAL" in some states but in others it's conveniently created into a LAW that you must have one.
Like I said LAWS - Legally Approved Ways to Steal! :marky:
