I love taking pictures but my camera never was good enough for me to get a crisp clean picture. I really want to take photography to the next level.. I have a $700.00 credit limit at best buy, I wanna buy a nice sweet digital camera that is going to get me nice clean shots but won't past my budget line in total, thats with taxes and everything else included...

Could someone help me look for a camera that is good - for those of you who know about these camera's and their technical specs?? I am inspired by allot of you in which helped me make my choice in presuing this..
Since I have to say under the $700 dollar credit limit since thats all I have to spend on a new camera I think this link would help...

Does it have to be from best buy? If you can buy it from ebay you'll get a lot more for your dollar.
I would go for the Nikon D60, or D40.

I suggest you buy it somewhere else besides bestbuy. I bought my D80 from B&H photo and they had it at a great price.

don't buy dSLR gear at best buy, its over priced. and you'll probably spend more than your credit limit.

I'm thinking of getting something very similar.
Do any of you like a brand more than another?
I hear Nikon a lot.
What about Canon?
Trying to keep an open mind.

Check out www.dpreview.com
They do reviews on a lot of cameras. At the end of each camera's review, they also have a comparison between other brands' similar cameras in the similar price range.
There's also picture samples as well so you can see first hand what kind of pictures the camera is capable of.

Interested in buying a used one? My d40 has a little over 1000 shutter releases.. I have a camera bag/backpack, the kit lens, 70-300mm sigma lens (with whatever their name for vibration reduction is), a couple macro lens filters (for the kit lens), cleaning kit, 1gb flash card, and a gorrila-pod.
You can look at some of the pictures I was able to get with it in my thread, and by click the picture in my sig. I really like having this camera around because it takes such great pictures and is very light weight, but I lack the creativity to fully use it, and barely do so anymore,If you're interested I can find links/prices to all of the stuff I have so you can shoot me an offer.

^check out nikoncafe.com
I've heard really good reviews of the D90
You check craigslist? There are some really good deals on used cameras there (at least in my area).

I have a Nikon d80 as well. I think it is a really nice camera to start off with. It's comparable to the Canon XSI. It's really all on preference. Go into the store and hold both of them and see which grip you like better.
I've heard nothing but great things about the d90. You cannot go wrong with that. A friend of mine just purchased it and his shots are amazing.

Going either canon, sony, or nikon or whatever, it's really on how you use the camera. The camera itself only does so much.
Don't buy from best buy though. Too over priced. Look around online.

Okay. . . You guys have been really helpful. I think I'm going to get the D90. And then start learning how to use the camera then buy a wide-angle lens and a zoom lens as well after a couple for pay checks.
I know that Best Buy is not the best place to buy a camera (price is way to high).
However, if I go to a camera store, would I be able to haggle the price at all? Or would I be paying full shown price?

Oh, and one more question. . .
Does it come with a photo shop CD of any kind or is that sold separately?
Cause my dad bought a camera a few years back and it came with a version of one (the cheap one however).

I personally love my Rebel XTI.
Check out B and H photo. Dirt cheap prices on their sh!t and they fully back it up. I have bought 2 lenses and will be buying some more + lighting equipment soon.

First choice would be canon xsi if it fits your budget. Nikon D60 is aslo a good cheaper choice ... Cheaper $$ might help you get lenses if you need any. But at the same time, th ecamera is the main part, so better get a good one!
