i have 8 ga wire running from my battery to the sub, about 14 feet and a soundstream 300 watt amp requiring a 40 amp battery fuse. i had a less powerful amp before this one so i left the 30 amp fuse in the fuse holder and it has worked fine for about a month. the fuse blew 2 nights ago, i put another 30 amp one in yesterday morning and it blew in about 15 min of full volume. i am thinking of putting in a 50 amp or 60 amp fuse. i know the amp requires less but i am running it bridged mono so it is at it's full power and i have 8 ga wire. any ideas?

Put a 40 amp fuse in there if that what it calls for. Obviously if its rated for a 40 amp fuse you're probably gonna blow a 30 amp fuse at full volume.

don't put more than 40. if they call for 40 and you use more, to keep from blowing a fuse, well then what do you think will happen when you pass 40 amps? obviously the amp can't handle more and could break, or they would have fused it higher. i've heard that if you exceed 30 amps on a 30 amp fuse you can do so for many hours before it wears enough to blow (if its not much over 30 amps). the second one may have been a defect or you were way over 30 i donno. just get a 40 amp fuse.
