View Full Version : Which mounting kit?

Can someone recommend any head unit mounting kit over another? Advantages, disadvantages? And where to buy it (like Metra is sold in Curcuit City, etc.)

i got mine at circuit city, best buy, or good guys. One of those stores. They were like 15 bucks. Its got 3 slots for cds. It looks fine, and easy to put on, but kinda cheap material. I took out the 3cd slot and closed it up, and painted the whole thing in polish black, and it looks nice.

Hehe, painted looks good, I just may do that. Your new Pioneer has a tilting faceplate. Does it com in contact with the kit at any point?

nah, its a perfect fit, doest hit it. MY xplods were hitting tho. For some reason the 3cd slot wasnt fitting in. The pioneer is a little bigger than my old xplod, or maybe i messed up somehow. I just gave up and took the slot out. bought me some plastic and superglued it. It looks better closed up(no slots). And a lot better than those single mounting kits, the ones you put in the middle of the kit, i hate those IMO. But i do miss that slot, much easier to put stuff in there than the aux compartment.
But its cheap and looks nice, my kinda mod hehe

about the advantages/disadvantages. First of all its the looks, which is total up to you. Then its the price, some are expensive and some are cheap. The cheaper ones are cheap material and are kinda hard to put it together and keep it together. Once you put it together and try it put it in, with a little force it will fall apart, and you gota put it back together. But once its on its not gonna fall apart. The more expensive ones are very easy to put it together. I would just go with the cheap ones, its only a little more work.

i got the 50$ one from hero tang. its in the installs section. very badass. really really nice.
