View Full Version : How much does the tranny weigh?

total. Unbolted from the engine whats it weigh? Basically Im doing my clutch install and need to know...is it like too heavy for a couple people to lift easily?

Nope. I pulled the tranny out and put it back in by myself. I'm 6' and weigh 175 with a medium build. Just suck it up and lift it up there. Using your knee or a jack will ease the work. I just used my knee.

I'ld say about 60-70 lbs. The block was the heaviest part.

Awesome. So with another person to hold it while I bolt it in I dont need any kind of tranny jack or anything? Thanks ALOT. Im also gonna use just my floor jack to hold the engine while a couple motor mounts are out. Thanks for the help, Im gonna try and get some pics to make an install guide for clutch/flywheel.

Hell yeah that thing's light as hell. Its hard to believe it takes the abuse like it does. Then again they are having some problems

the auto tranny is like 80 lbs. heavier than the manual, at least 120-130 total, that is a bitch unless you got a real good jack and one of those things to hold it and raise/lower it.
