i just unbolted the muffler and was wondering if daily driving with the muffler unbolted hurts my car.... or is it just bad for emissions?

Bad for emissions, as far as bad for the car. I don't think it is.

when you unbolted your exhaust doesn't it just hang down to the ground?

I've heard if you keep the exhaust off for a long time, the gasses will eventually eat away at the underside of the car.

how is it bad for emmissions? I assume that you've just unbolted at the rear wheel, losing some piping and a muffler...none of that is doing emmissions work.

It can ruin your catalytic converter. Unbolting the exhaust makes the gases hotter inside the catalyst, which burns the catalytic converter up. I'm not sure exactly why it runs hotter without the extra piping attached to it though, maybe some one who knows exactly why can post more about it.

Make sure the exhaust gas is not exiting near your gas tank or brake lines. You should connect a straight pipe in place of the muffler if you want it loud and to gain some high end power. Torque may actually drop a tad at lower RPM though.
