I,ve almost got the solution to the large lump sum problem the 2 main problems are the turbo manifold 1500.00 for a custom made and the 2000.00 ecu + 500 for the tuning. I,m going to check out a $500.00 ecu solution, and $3-400.00 manifold. I can,t beleve that the companys that are making a kit for the GT-S think that people are going to come running for a kit that only produces 65 hp for a minimum of 5500.00 -6000.00 all the little drug dealers are using NOS like in the THE FAST & THE FURIOUS and it only costs 800.00 installed and off they go. For the rest of us who can not afford to buy the high dollar sports cars and want a highly driveable car the $3-4000.00 kit that is available to the rest of the import world. To the companys in question WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE YOU CAN EITHER SELL 2-3 KITS A MONTH AT BEST OR YOU CAN SELL 10 KITS A MONTH FOR A REASONABLE AMOUNT, and they wonder why so many co,s go out of business for bad business decisions sheeesh.

well...
Custom Manifold, Custom Intercooling Piping, Custom Intake, Front Mounted Intercooler, Turbo, Waste Gate, Computer Controlling Unit, Installation Labor, Tuning, Tuning Labor... Want to be safe with a GTS, Rods, Lower Compression Pistons, Headgasket, and Block Guard, Labor on installation of all those.
You will spend at least 6000 bucks to get turbo'd.

My fault I wasn,t completely clear on everything my system is only going to run 7 lbs of boost until I can afford all the rest ie; rods, pistons, sleeves, bigger injectors, fuel pump. Your price was right but for more than 7 lbs of boost, I,m getting mine started, but if you read all of my post I said I was checking on a couple of cheaper ways. Yes research and homework does save $$ and if I can find them I will share them with the rest of the celica world. Sounds like you jumped at the first set up you could find, and rember I said some of us can,t afford to come up with $6000.00 cash money. People before you try to make someone else look bad think before you rush and type something derogatory please.

Wow, yet another highly experienced forced induction engineer into the fray :)
Check out the Apexi Power FC, its a **** load cheaper than the $2000 shamoleons you mentioned.
Have fun.

Wasnt derogatory, was the truth. Most people on here think you can open the refirgerator and make a turbo out of Mayo and Bread. Dosent happen that way especially since nobody has developed a kit for the GTS and sold it. Don't jump your guns im only here to help.

that seems expensive for just the manifold.

yes I know but the 1000.00 minimum is the quote I got from everyone I called. As far as the super afc solution to the ecu problem mentiond earlier the mechanic,s said that wont stop the check engine light from coming on, and if the light comes on because of something in the engine your ecu will go into the protect mode and you don,t want that. Also dark star Ihave a gt-s so my intake is aluminum not plastic so saved about 800.00 right there and the tuning and tuning labor is the same, and I,m not having a custom exhaust pipe made I,m not going to use a muffler so I saved on the 3'' piping except on the intake side. I didn,t mean to get upset but my price is less because I,m not spending $ on custom intake and exhaust about 1650.00 . I,m not trying to give false hope I,m trying to get past the lump sum ordeal. Also I,m not the expert I have 2 mechanics working on the problem, this is what they tell me. So if anybody has any real ecu solutions I,m all eyes.

ok so if you are serious about this can you give a price breakdown on what you are going to be getting with your custom kit and how much every part costs?

Hey RIP V-8 Junior , im thinking about building a custom turbo also. First off, your getting the parts YOU want, also your not droping $3,000, you can buy some parts here and there, and gradually get what you want you know? One other good thing about it is you don't have to WAIT for the 1st turbocharger to come out, plus you can get it for a cheaper price and have the satisfaction of knowing your turbocharger incase something happens to it. Anyways, please let me know how much your getting for the estimates, and everything else, thanks.

The problem is someone will be custom fabricating everything for you. That is extremely expensive and time consuming.

i could probably get the labor done for like $500, so.

not install labor, actual manufacturing labor.

when all is said and done i bet you spend more than the kit would have cost. plus you don't have the option of a tuned and tested kit. and without serious engine modifications your not going to be getting more than 65hp anyways.
