Hey

My mate's gotta Celica SX (Options of a GT in US but with GT-S Engine) and my mums gotta V6 Nissan Maxima, i wanted to see the difference. I know the maxima flies along and i also know that the Celica's go damn hard...

I've actually gotta S15 Nissan Silvia 6sp, when i dragged my mate in the Celica, i couldn't even see him, lol..

We ended up lining ip and we had a flagger and we started, i 3/4's of a car off the line and pulled a little, i heard when his lift kicked in and he slowly inched forward, but not enough, we both hit second (damn, i still hate AUTO'S!!) and the maxima pulled away slowly.

The Celica still did a pretty good job, was back like 2 car lenghs i think.

The Celica is stock though and my mums Maxima has a pod filter (yeah, i had to put one in!!) :)

But, still was a good drag, them Maxima's are the biggest sleepers ever!! Give heaps of cars runs for there money!!

i'm assuming it wasn't the 222hp one? :D cuz they're supposed to be quite a bit faster than the auto GTS. even tho i raced one and had same outcome as you and drove a stock one that belonged to my uncle and it felt about fast enough to pull a bit before the celica would hit 40-50 and then not pull away. i'm pretty damn certain the maxima should pull away convincingly after 80 up to 100.

i can't believe you ran him in the silvia, tho. picking on n/a 4 cyl autos. :(

I dont know about you guys but i have taken plenty of maxima's in my gt-s auto time. Here is the most recent story. I was on the blvd. and i came upon a max. He had about 2 kids in his car(i think), and i had a girl with me. We went a couple of times. The best race turned out like this. Off the line he was feet in front of me, when my lift kicked in i tore right up even with him. Shift to 2nd and it stayed even(if anything i gained a foot), then my lift cam hit in 2nd and i put about 1-2 carlenghts on him. Go figure, i am aware of the weight difference but i have beaten my share of maximas before this, totally even.

Also, one other note for you guys. The 190 horsepower maximas are faster than the 222 horsepower ones in auto. Dont ask me why but it is true. The 1996 maxima was fast as hell.

Bah.... Maximas still feel like your driving a bus...

I had to drive a 2002 maxima se for 2 days last week(rental). It had some punch, but i missed the celica so much.

they're quick, but they feel like you're on a yacht, when the suspension is stock ;)

i didn't know about the 190hp. that's interesting. i think one of my friends was looking at one.

hehe, Damn right you feel like your in a yaught!! The suspension is so bouncy!!! But, it's a good cruiser car!!

But, yeah. My mums Maxima is the 220hp version, It's the Mid Class Model (ST) with the electric seats n all that stuff. I've taken on a V6 3.0L Camry in it and the maxima got it aswell..

The Auto Celica would of probaly won if when the auto trans shifted and it stayed in lift :)

Yeah, i put my S15 onto the Celica (yes, i was boosted aswell) he couldn't even keep up.

But, the Maxima sure as hell has some grunt!

Also, the Celica's in Australia have 190hp (140kw) and the Maximas are 157kw.
