just one question...in a race between a stock At. 2000 celica GT vs a practically stock(no real mods that would do anything) 1997 Manual Eclipse (RS)..who would win..? any info or anything would be much appreciated..just so my friend would shut up about his crappy car that doesnt even have a Jap engine..(i would race but i dont get my celi for atleast 6months..so im using my sister's as an example).

his eclipse weighs about 400 pounds more..and has the same hp../

well a stock eclipse gs 5-spd (2nd gen) runs about mid 16s in the quarter mile. the auto celica gt is lucky to break 17s. I think the gs and rs are the same performance wise so i would give the edge to him if he is a good driver.

xactly.. the auto GT would stand no chance against the manual eclipse.. if it was manual vs manual Id give the nudge to the Celica GT :)

lolz i don't think that is true. I race a gs and i burn him, he has exhaust and i dunno what is under the hood, but he car is drop and manual. mine is an auto gt 2001 :) this was when i dunno how to race too.. i think his is a 97 up ..not sure..

well then he had no clue how to drive.. as said, the 5spd non turbo eclipse is a low 16 second car, the automatic Celica GT is a high 16 second to low 17 second car..

A bit off topic-My brother has a new Eclipse(V6) with a CAI. He thought his V6 "would kill our little 4 banger". He hates it everytime I beat him. Around corners he's not even close.

to win races in an auto you have to drive it like you stole it ...... unfortunatly , this is also bad for your tranny !
Get a 75 shot of nitrous ... intake ... exhaust ... headers .... and suspension .. and youll be fast enough for props!

someone I work w/ claims auto's are quicker, but I said that for most people (like us), there is no way an auto is quicker unless you are putting in alot of money and doing extensive work. He was talking about a camarro he runs with a trans-break, and how he basically rev's up, lets go of the button and just goes. I said that would never hold up on our car.

I've been doing it myself for awhile now, along with larry, static, bill, jason, ****, just about everyone in this thread giving you advice.
