I'm having issues with my 2000 Celica GT 1zzfe. It sounds like it has a rod knock on cyl 3, but the bearings are fine and I gauged it and it's within specs. I have had problems with the bearings in the past that have led to replacing the crank and con rods. Anyway, it's starting to get expensive to keep this engine quiet. I have found a 3sgte complete with ecu, wiring, tranny, the whole works for only $1500. I am wondering if I should just buy the 3s and do the swap, or should i instead build the 1zz w/ better part's. If I keep the 1zz I will eventually turbo charge it, thats why im leaning more towards the 3s, I know it will be a lot of work but It seems that it would be cheaper. any input?
