I know this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it in a search.
I'm takin my car in to get something fixed under warranty, but I got CAI. I was curious with some of you guys experiences do the dealers care about the intake. What I'm getting fixed has nothing to do with the intake.
I can understand maybe water in the engine, but other than that the CAI shouldn't be a problem right? I know it also may void the warranty, but I'm wondering if they usually care about it.
Thanks in advance

the reality is that it totally depends on your dealer. legally, they have to prove the modification is the cause of the problem, whatever that may be. but, the burden of proof is pretty light. basically, if they say it's the cause, there's not much you can do.
however, some dealers aren't as rigid about modifying your car. has your dealer worked on your car before with the intake? if so, how did they react? my dealer's service manager is sick with modding his car. he loves the hydraulics so he can bounce down the interstate. so, the stuff i do to my ride is pretty tame compared to him. in fact, he's recommended places for me to buy parts. consequently, i don't worry much about what i do to my celica in regard to my warranty.
if your dealer doesn't get uptight about the mods, you have no worries. if you don't have a good repoire with them, i'd return the car to stock if you don't want to take a chance. if they bust you, you could make it stock again and take it to another dealer. just depends on how you want to handle it.

Thanks for the info DaileyDog, I appreciate it. That is what I figured, pretty much everything you said about it.
I've taken it there before with the intake for regular oil change service and they never said anything about it, but I'm not sure how they are with modding. I'm gonna call tom. morning and ask if it is OK. I just dont wanna take any chances. The engine is making a clicking noise and I'm sure I know what it is. I just dont want them to give me crap about it.
But anyway thanks alot!

yeah I definitely agree. Just find a dealership you can develop a good repoire with and I think it's important to be honest with them. If your mod is really causing the problem you have to be a man about it and admit to them from the beginning that your mod might be causing the problem, or whatever. My dealership asked me to remove my s-afc from my ECU so they could troubleshoot my CEL problem easier. So I did. Now my cam shaft is getting fixed next Tuesday. Honestly, it's pretty amazing that they will work on my car even though I have tampered with the ECU. After all, it does say DO NOT OPEN on the box :)
I love my dealership! I know my service manager's full name and I always talk to him. He knows my full name too :) I try to to jump back and forth between different service reps. It's too difficult to develop repoire when you do that.

Thanks alot guys. I took it this morning and they are cool about modding the car. They even like it.
Anyway It's good news I thought maybe something serious was wrong, but it was just the belt tensioner:)
Thanks
