This might have been posted, or something similiar, but I need everyone's help (still):
If you misshifted in either a GTS, or a GT, and toyota covered it under warranty (and you had an aftermarket intake). Could you please post something relevant to your case, such as your name or VIN. I'm basically trying to get a list together to show toyota that they are b-sing me about my car. I didn't even misshift, but due to the fact that I have an intake, they won't fix my car under warranty. it's such b.s., but anyway, Please help me on this, cause I need all the help I can get.
I know of 2 or 3 people so far who have misshifte,d or had problems and toyota covered it, but if you'd all be so kind as to just post your name, VIN, that'd be awesome. Thanks. And if a mod could sticky this temporarily I'd be even happier.

It has been done many times, have you tried a search?

yes, but none resulted in a name w/ vin or anything useful. Just something to the effect of: "****, I never thought it'd happen to me, I misshifted, but toyota is covering it". THat's the basis of most posts on the board.

Good luck then because I know the exact same request has been made many times.

I'm curious about the "victim" part of your subject. How do you all think you're victims? We've for the most part agreed that misshifts are driver error. Are we calling people who ran their Celica's into trees "victims"?
you should have put the stock airbox back on :/

well, misshifts are driver errors, but in my case I feel that toyota is saying I caused a problem which I am positive I didn't. that's the worst part. I'm positive I didn't misshift and yet they are coming up w/ lame excuses of what an intake does. Tell me how an intake could change compression or cause the car to overrev. These are what they say an intake can do to a car. I didn't overrev even and yet they are saying it could happen, it's just so fake. Anyway, misshift is driver error, although a tight shifter doesn't help, but that's not the situation. I know that I had a weak engine from the get-go. Only 11000 miles on my engine, and this happens. I don't want to debate, but I guess I won't really recieve any help here, thanks anyway.

what you need is one persons name and the dealership that fixed their car.. with a copy of their papers..
my name is Larry Dougherty
my car was fixed under warranty for mis shift ny Newark Toyota located in Newark DE 19711
I dont have my papers laying around though.. the regional manager approved the service work and on my car at the time was a rod millen intake which obviously had nothing to do with me hitting the wrong gear.. hope it helps

we are victims of a ****ty gearbox, i never misshifted my accord or integra and I think others feel the same way... ultimately it's driver error but making that error is way too easy IMO, easier than it is in other cars...
as for not getting ur engine covered cuz intake, that's BS, I had an intake/exhaust and my dealer knew that those mods are irrelevant to misshifting..
remember the burden of proof is on the dealer to show that ur intake directly caused your misshift...
email me for my info..

I mis-shifted, and I still have the original shift gates. I'm just waiting to mis-shift again. Knock on wood.

Re: After Market Parts
Question
I would like to add an after market accessory or part to my vehicle, will this impact my warranty?
Answer
Warranty coverage is not dependent upon the use of any particular brand of replacement parts. However, Toyota recommends using only Genuine Toyota Parts when you need to replace a part on your vehicle. Non-Genuine Toyota Parts, or any damage or failures resulting from their use, are not covered by any Toyota warranty.
i got this off the Toyota website under the FAQ section...search word: warranty->aftermarket parts
