ok , we were putting my passenger seat back in and when my buddy was putting the last bolt in (left front) and it broke off in side the hole. so we tried using a reverse thread bit to take it out, but that broke off inside too. so how would you guys go about removing a broken bolt that snapped off inside the threads?

only 1 real way I can think...drill out the whole and re-thread the opening.

1. go to local tool place...
2. find stud remover/screw out (5-20$)..
3. use

There are bolt extractor kits, often called EZ outs. They will cost a little but they get the job done. Most auto parts stores will have one, and snap on / bluepoint makes a nice one.

What all the ohters have missed is the fat you broke off a nice piece of harded steel into the bolt.

I've done this myself, and all I can say is welcome to hell.

Is this a bolt that can be accessed from under the car? If so, I'd work on it from there. many of the seat bolts extend right through to air on the other side. The broken off bit on the inside will make it virtually impossible to work with there (get a metal punch and stat chipping out the bit piece by piece.

I've had a piece of metal lodged in my eye before, so I am an authority on safety glasses. Now's a goot time to buy a pair.

yeah we already broke one of those ez out things in side the original bolt, and i dont think there is a clear way to get underneath to the bolt but i will check. i was think of just taking it to a local muffler shop, they usually take care of small things on the spot and they dont charge out the a** for it. this sucks

are you able to drill the hole out and heli coil it? That might be the quickest solution if it's an option.

what about the bondit stuff, I don't know what it's called but you basically put this glue on, and attatch like a rod to the bolt, and it makes the bolt and rod stick together so well that you can then unscrew it. Great adhesive stuff.

Yeah take it to the shop. I striped one of my bolt on the wing trying to remove it, the body shop took it out for me no charge. I tried using EZ out it didnt work.

Try taking it to the body shop, i know they have experience with this kind of stuff.
