i was vacuming my ride out today and on the passenger side under the mat right where it ends theres a patch of carpet the size of 2 fifty cent pieces rubbed out. It looks terrible. Not only that you visably see it when getting into the car. I know its not a cig burn, cause no one even comes near my car with those, so how could this happen, better yet can i get this covered under warranty? I guessing that my girl puts her foot in like the same spot everytime she gets in and from friction its rubbed out, but ive never seen carpet shed like that. What do you guys think?
on my drivers side near my gas pedal I wore a hole about the size of a fifty cent piece after only having the car 3 months... I went over to my dealership and complained so they replaced all of them for free :wiggle:

I don't think anyone here is going to be able to help you, except of course for the dealership. I suggest you go in and act like an asshole if they don't agree to cover it under warranty at first, it worked for me, and even got me a free oil change.

This is what I'm gonna get to solve that problem:

get aluminum mats.

-get aluminum mats.
Those get scuffed and scratched, as well as leaving a "ring" around the edge of your floor. They fit really tight, so not to much movement, but theres just enough to wear carpet around the edge.

am i the only one who has like 4 inch tracks in the floor mats where the pedals are that have been there since about 6 monthes after buying the car? really sucks. i think i'll have to buy mats once a year.

i don't see how peoples mats aren't totally ruined like mine after a year or more. mine have deep grooves in them with no carpet left.

i added heavy door trim around my mats, so they don't cut into the carpet...every once in a while I take them out and polish with metal polish..check the carpet, and no damage yet, yeah they scuff, but they still look great, and last a hell of a lot longer then the stock carpet mats.

The wear spot won't be covered by the factory warranty. My floor mats were replaced because the edging was falling apart.
My solution was to cover the factory mats with the WeatherTech Classic Premium Rubber Mats, from MacNeil, at www.mats.com
These are mats that I have had for about 10 years, are on their fourth vehicle and still look top notch, that is to say, they last and still look great.

My girlfriend had her driver's side floormat replaced under warranty in her Avalon. It had a little wear on it. Replaced by the dealer, no questions asked.

That's odd. My factory carpet inside the car is perfectly fine. THough the floor mats above the carpet is a different question. Since I drive manual, there's a hugh bald spot around the heel of my foot on the clutch!!! It is so damn ugly, but oh well. Can't do too much. But I haven't had any problems with my carpeting. Could it be that it wore out from a vacuum cleaner brushing too hard there?

Here is what I did....I bought some good black car mats and I put them in ON TOP OF the factory mats....my interior looks like showroom and i can always buy cheap mats when the others get too nasty...but the factory ones always look new!

I think Toyota fixed this problem in the 2003 models. I believe they have a rubber section near your pedals. I guess enough people must have complained.
