i called a engine shop and he said he would bore the block, give the car a good valve job, and port and polish the engine. what does all this mean and what would it do for the car? thnx

cant bore out a 1zz or 2zz block, cylinder walls are too thin...find another machine shop.
porting and polishing the cyl head will let it flow more, thus making more hp.

ohh, this is for a project car (crx)...just thought id ask here bc everyone is so helpful :-)

ahhh, well in that case boring it out will increase displacement making it a larger motor. hope it helps :)

cylinder walls on the 2zz are 5.5mm thick.. you need 5 mm thich as minimum..

uhhh one thing to keep in mind is that the cylinder walls are coated with molybdenum(could be wrong spelling). Boring the walls would mean removal of the coating. I dont think the 2zz block was meant to be bored. BUT, if you wanna spend the bucks, find a knowledgeable shop and get yourself some sleeve inserts and go all out!!

yeah thanks Oo DaRk StAr oO & oldster. well ive done sent the engine in and im getting it basically redone......forged pistons and rods etc..
