SIs are dope, think about it... its a civic that runs pretty good, i think they are very decent cars.. its when they are riced out that they are :gay: but usually ricers dont even spend the extra $$ on SIs so they just got auto HXs lol
yo jotan, whats the barney mobile?? im thinkin, a van??

I'll be there, and I wish my Celica had just 1/10 of the aftermarket potential of a Civic Si. I have ridden in a Si with a 75 shot and one with a JRSC chilling with those guys, and those cars nailed me to the seat something my car doesn't. But they are cool about other cars and most them don't even drive Si's anymore..... So show up....

hey office monkey, you can get a 75 shot of nitrous in a celica. That's what i have in mine, i could take you on a ride and yes when the nitrous hit you would get nailed to your seat. I don't have a supercharger though. Where is the Si meet at exactly?
And remember, "friends don't let friends drive hondas"!!!!!!!!!!.

a 75 shot is alot of stress on the valves and lifters in a gt-s. the two people who have done it on this site have blown their engine, or noticed declining performance (and eventualy sold the car before it took a ****). no offence but thats pushing it. one guy has a 75 shot on his gt, and i think thats a little nuts too.

It's things like what BoyRacer said is the reason my car is on AutoTrader.com, put it on today. I just want a car that won't run dangerously lean and throw engine codes with a simple intake. Is that really so much to ask? This car just does not like anything but stock. At least the Honda B series motors can safely take 100 hp over stock, if you get the fuel right. I just want to move on to something a little stronger a Supra if I can find one (yeah right) or a GT Mustang.

BoyRacer
07-01-2002, 04:17 PM
i hope i didnt make you sell your car......:( im sorry. i never had had a problem with my engine or the CEL, other than when i was first installing the s-afc.

BadTOYO

First of all, I am not trying to start an argument or get personal with anyone, but no intake will make a car run "dangerously" lean. That statement is misleading... And the engine codes are due to a poorly installed intake, there's no doubt about that. Also, any motor can handle any amount of power over stock when properly built, most people here just want things handed to them in a box that they can pick up at a local shop and have someone install for them so that they can get "100HP" over stock, reliably. Sorry, but modifying cars doesn't work that way. If you want to turbo a 2ZZGE, go ahead and do it yourself, no pre-assembled kits, no boxed stuff, if you have the know how and money to do it... It's not that the motor can't handle it, is just that there's no one out there that really wants to put the research and effort to come up with an off-the-shelf kit, most tuners want to make money, they are a money making business, so why would they spend any funds on something that won't return their investment any time soon? The honda vtec motors have been around for about 10 years (wasn't the first GSR a 93 model?) so obviously, there is a number of motors out there and enough cars to justify making parts for them... Why would anyone want to invest any R&D funds into a brand new motor, such as the 2ZZGE, which is only available in one model car (at least here in the US)? Give it enough time, and things will happen, just not overnight (and 3 years is not enough time)
And again, I am not picking on anyone, just venting some of my thoughts on this whole deal...
ok, rant done, I'll go back under my rock now... peace...

Right and the five way O2 sensor on the dyno lied...... I have the dyno sheet to prove it. Why did I gain 15 horses with 15% fuel enrichment. Why are my spark plugs clean? Why do I keep getting a lean condition on Bank1 engine code? I know what you are thinking, "Didn't the AFC fix all that?", no it didn't it would throw a code when I was idling and default to some stock fuel map, ignore the AFC and run lean again, I discovered this not so cool fact a few days ago. I tried to fix that by enriching on low thottle at idle but that did not work. Lean condition everytime. Again I know that building a motor is not just bolting on parts. I took it to the dyno for a reason.... I do my research like I should and I still have CEL. I may have installed it wrong but what about everyone else in the main forum that has the same problem. Did all of us install it wrong? Again isn't this a lot of trouble for just an intake? I mean I'm not installing a turbo then I would expect having to play with A/F ratios, but a simple intake come on now. I know my car may be freak because it was running dangerously lean. I also know there are select few that do not get CEL with an intake but I would say that would be a minority. Again no beef, I'll be glad to show you the dyno's at the Si meet, if you go.... This is just my experiance with my car. I don't have the patience to wait for the aftermarket on this car that is true. With the stock engine management on this car I don't think there ever will be a good aftermarket... IMO.

GT's I think might be another story though.

No BoyRace it wasn't you it was the car... :)

About the cold air intake, i think it depends on the car or something. Me and my brother both have the same celica GT both bought it within a week of each other, we both have injen cold air, install in the same shop in 2 months interval, i never had a cel and my brother can't get ride of his. I don't know , just what i experienced! I also have act stage 1 clutch, aem pulley, iridium sparkplugs, 75 shot of nitrous, and no cel. I just bought a fidanza lightweight flywheel and a s-afc, titan motorsport in orlando are going put eveything on in 2 weeks, i hope the cel does not come on

Jusone36

At first i asked them if they had just a s-afc and when they could install it and they told me it would be around 2 months!!!! Then i called back and i said that i needed a s-afc, a lightwheight flywheel, a AEM big brake kit and a short shifter and for some reason, Nero (the manager) called me 2 days later and told me he could install everything next week( $2700 installed). I guess they're not that busy if you spend a lot of money.

bottle, i think you are the one that takes care of the seats, do you have any idea if the bracket and sliders will be there next week, so you guys can install then at the same time as you installing everything else? i bought 2 black sparco speed, and by the way, can you check for a pillar with 2 guages( air/fuel ratio and something else..)....how much with the guages installed....thanks
